Robert Wade, Sr. of Halifax, VA is my 5th great grandfather. Does anyone have any proof as to who his father was? I recently searched the Internet and CD-ROM databases such as Ancestry-World Connect, LDS Family Search, FTM, Wade Mailing List Archives, Surname Forum, etc., and found the following ancestors listed for Robert, Sr. (1) Robert, Sr.>Andrew>Edward II>Edward (2) Robert, Sr.>James>Edward II>Edward (3) Robert, Sr.>John>Edward II>Edward (4) Robert, Sr.>Richard>Edward II>Edward (4) Robert, Sr.>Richard>Edward>Zaccarisas All of this is very suspicious to me because Robert, Sr. had 7 sons, and none of them are named Andrew, James, or Richard. He did have a son named John, but the person whose database had John said she was not sure who the actual father was and randomly picked John. To my way of thinking, the most probably given name for Robert, Sr.'s father would be "William," the name of Robert, Sr.'s oldest son, since the tradition of naming the first son after the father's father was popular at the time.
