I forgot to say that I found Nathaniel Dacus in Charlotte Co. Va. he was the father in law of Critty Wade Dacus. Which would place both families together in the Bedford-Charlotte area during the R.W. and then in S.C. Nancy Hall Anderson
I found this to be of some interesting on a David Wade. My David B. Wade daughter Critty Wade Dacus filed a R.W. Pension on her father David Wade and was denied, I found this which was submitted by Shirley Hornbeck shornbeck@tminet.com Pvt. George Hornbeck b. 1759 Va. R.W. soldier- pension App. The article is 6 pages long I will send it to whom ever would like a copy. but this is what is in it : ...........In the month of may 1781 he went back to Va. Bedford County In August 1781 he substituted for three months for DAVID WADE under Captain Moon...............................After the surrender he went to Albermarle Barracks on Nov. 19 he received his discharge for his three months of substitution for David Wade. That discharge he gave to David Wade on his return to Bedford. As to questions about his service: By enlistment for two years the first time ,I volunteered for one year the second time and a substitute for David Wade the third. Ok was there another David Wade, Did the David Wade from Edward lay claim to being in the R.W. Which David Wade is this? Was either David Wade in Bedford Va. I would like for you to post replies to the list so every one can get the feedback. Nancy Hall Anderson David Bingley Wade and Sarah Anglin is my line

Hi Gang: I am trying one more time to find my Esther Wade. Does anyone have ANY Esther Wade around the above time frame, give or take a few years maybe. It seems of all the Wade information that comes in from the list, someone, sometime, has run across Esther. I know nothing at all about her except that she married a William Thorn, some say John, but I am sure his name was William. They had a son Daniel Wade Thorn born abt. 1813-1818 probably in Virginia. Daniel Wade Thorn was in Dickson Co. Tenn 1840-1853, possibly a few years before. William was probably in Virginia at some time. According to family story, and everyone knows about family stories) Esther Wade was the daughter of a wealthy stove manufacturer in PA. I am sorry I have so many probablys in this listing, but this is a real brick wall. If anyone has any Esther Wade please let me know. Thanks Sue
Thanks for that Betty. Haven't tried yet but I will. You are welcome for the stuff I sent you. hope you enjoy it. This is a very long document that is in very poor condition. So I will list only the significant parities mentioned in the suit. It appears that Obadiah's son Thomas died prior to his father which lead to a suit regarding Obadiah's first will in which he inherited property. Since he died before his father the property should not have come to him. Like I said it is a very long legally drawn out record, but it does give an idea of who Obadiah's children and grandchildren were. All grandchildren mentioned are listed as being "not of age." I assume this means under the age of 21. Thomas W. WADE- son (deceased) Nancy Wade and Cynthia Wade- Thomas's daughters Henry G. WADE- son (deceased) Eliza Ann Wade and Harriett H. Wade- Henry's daughters Fielding T. WADE- son Martha Jones Wade, William Preston Wade, Caroline Wade I have to idea what the outcome was in this suit. Hopefully someone will find relatives through the listing of the names mentioned. Carolyn

June, I started working on my autobiography before I moved last year. Then in October when my computer bit the dust, I thought it was lost forever. Fortunately, the guy who came out to fix the computer said I could get documents off the hard drive, so I was able to retrieve it. I printed off a copy, but the info on the disk was lost. So at this point I have to retype the information into a new file. Since all my computer issues, I have learned to backup My Documents on a regular basis. Charley

Here is the first will. I can't do them all in one day. My fingers won't let me. Barren County, Kentucky will book 3 page 2 Will dated Sept. 1822, probated Nov. term 1826 Elizabeth WADE In the name of God, Amen. I, Elizabeth WADE of Barren County in the State of Kentucky, being in perfect health of Body and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following: that is to say: First and principally, I commit my Soul into the hands of the Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows: I give and bequeath unto my son DANIEL WADE of Goochland County in the state of Virginia one dollar. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter BETSY (who the last I heard resided in the state of Georgia) one dollar. Item. WADE (the eldest son of my son Obadiah WADE) all my claim, right and profits that is and hereafter would be due to me from my son Daniel WADE for the rent and use of my land during my lifetime, lying in Goochland County State of Virginia on the waters of the Tuckahoe Creek where I formerly lived- a part of which plantation I rented unto my son Daniel WADE above mentioned- and entered into an article of agreement with him, which article of agreement I put into the hands of my daughter LUCY MENLO to keep for me and some time afterward I applied for it and she said she could not find it at that time- and also that past of my plantation round about where my dwelling house stood that I left in his, the said Daniel WADE's care and use, about which party there was no writings drawn between us, but whatever it is considered that the use he has made of it be worth including the benefit he has had of the dwelling house and dairy that he has moved off the land and also five pounds that he was to collect for me from Mary RED and the price of two cows and one calf that I left with him the said Daniel WADE and also the price of my wheat fan and half dozen chairs, two flat irons and two pewter dishes that I left in the care of the said Daniel WADE my son. And for the true love and regard that I bear for my above named grandson THOMAS W. WADE which he has singularly merited by his good morals and tender care over me in my declining years, I have freely given and granted and bequeathed unto him all the property above mentioned or prices of it if it should or may have been sold made us of or destroyed (since my departure from the state of Virginia which was the year of our Lord 1807) together with the money due me for the rent and use of my land and house above named. And furthermore I do freely give grant and bequeath unto my said grandson THOMAS W. WADE all the money that is due me from my son OBADIAH WADE, namely for the Gigg or chair that I rode from Virginia to Kentucky which he sold for about forty dollars, also for a bay mare which I drove out in the Gigg which he sold for fifteen dollars, also ten dollars in cash that I lent him on my arrival at his house in the year above mentioned and also four dollars in cash that I loaned him a few years past and for two calico patterns for dresses containing seven yards each at 3 shillings per yard and also for bringing twenty negro children for him since he has been in the state of Kentucky, for which I charge him two dollars each amounting to forty dollars. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my above named grandson Thomas W. WADE to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. I testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ___ day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two.
