First let me apologize if you receive more than one copy of this as I am posting this to more than one list. Do you know anything about any of these folks who appear on the 1820 Gwinnett Co GA census? 316. Asa WADE 310001-10001-0 540. Edward WADE Sr. 000001-00001-0 575. John WADE 210010-30010-0 632. Edward WADE 000010-20100-0 650. James WADE 010010-32010-0 According to William C. Steward in "Gone to Georgia" these WADEs had Southside VA antecedents. Also according to Steward these folks came to Gwinnett Co via NC and Pendleton Dist SC. Steward goes on to say the Edward WADE Sr. and Edward WADE (Jr?) above moved to DeKalb Co GA by 1830. Here comes the questions: Question 1: Are all five of these guys from the same family? Question 2: Is the Edward WADE Sr. here the same one who was on the 1790 Pendleton Dist SC census? Question 3: Is either of these Edward WADEs the one who sold land in Pendleton Dist SC in 1804 while he was a resident of Elbert Co GA? Question 4: Is the James WADE above and either of the Edward WADEs above the James and Edward WADE who witnessed a 1810 Elbert Co GA deed for Joseph KING? Thank you for any assistance you may provide. Eldon <mailto:[email protected]> mailto:[email protected] Researching surnames: Hames (SC,GA,AL), Jaquess Jaquish Jaques (TN,AL), Wade (VA,SC,GA,AL)

Sorry, everyone, a case of fingers moving faster than brain. What my intended reply was, Gold, was that this is spam, and an abuse of a genealogy mailing list. I trust that the listowner will take the appropriate action. This is an advertisement for an internet company, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Wade list, or genealogy. Just an example of some jerk who happened to have access to our list, unfortunately. N Wilson

I am looking for any Wade connection for Northern Ireland between 1600 and 1850 especially around Lisdillon or Glenlough. This area is 8 to 10 miles S.E. of Londonderry. I have traced my family back to Lisdillon, N.I. in the 1850's. I intend to travel to Lisdillon and area in the summer of 2002. Mike Wade, Argyll, Scotland.

Hi Folks, Pardon me if you receive more than one copy of this as I am cross posting because I need your help (and the lists are kind of slow). I am looking for info on the Edward WADE who appears on a Mar. 3, 1804 Pendleton Dist SC deed where he sold land to Moses HOLLAND. On this deed Edward is referred to as "Edward Wade of Elbert Co., Ga.". Moses HOLLAND, a rather well known SC Baptist minister, also witnessed a deed for a Edward WADE in the 1790s. On this deed Edward is shown as having a wife named Nancy. Also as witness on this deed is William KING. William KING, himself a SC Baptist minister of some renown, lived for many years in Spartanburg Co SC and was the minister of the Head of Enoree Baptist Church in the late 1790s. Moses HOLLAND and William KING were closely associated in the Big Creek Baptist Church in the early 1790s. Living with William KING and wife at the taking of the 1830 Spartanburg Co census was an E. WADE. This E. WADE is suspected to be Elijah WADE who may be the son of this Edward WADE. 1. Could this be the Edward WADE who is on the 1800 Pendleton Dist SC Census but is not on the 1810 Pendleton Dist census? (There is another Edward WADE on the 1810 census but is younger than the Edward on the 1800 census). 2. Is this Edward WADE the one who was b. abt. 1760, m. a Nancy (no surname), and was the son of the Edward WADE who d. in 1790 in Greene Co GA? 3. Could this Edward be the one who appears as a winner in the 1805 GA Land Lottery while as a resident of Elbert Co GA? 4. Is this the same Edward WADE who was the subscribing witness for a Oct. 1,1825 Hall Co GA deed where Elijah WADE purchased land? 5. Has anyone seen any info on an Edward WADE in the Elbert Co GA records? If you can provide any info that may assist in answering any of these questions your assistance would be very appreciated. Thank you, Eldon <mailto:[email protected]> mailto:[email protected] Researching surnames: Hames (SC,GA,AL), Jaquess Jaquish Jaques (TN,AL), Wade (VA,SC,GA,AL)
Hello Wade List Does anyone have any connection to or know of anybody who might have such a connection, with the following family?? This information is extracted directly from the works of Stuart Charles Wade, Librarian at New York Public Library in 1900. I hope this will lead to a connection with a whole new branch of my Wade ancestry and shall be happy to share info. Thanks, Robert Wade, Brisbane, Australia 562. WILLIAM WADE, born July 21, 1750. Married:--Ann Dean (daughter of Richard Dean) of New York, August 2, 1780. (She born in New York, December 28, 1764; died July 11, 1838.) Issue:-- 578. Richard Dean Arden Wade, b. at New York, Apr. 26, 1796. 579. Anna Wade, m. Charles Ogden; d. Dec. 18, 1859. 580. Frances Wade, m. Alexander Bleecker (d) 581. Robert Wade, lost at sea on return from Ireland. (d) Frances Wade, daughter of William and Ann (Dean) Wade, was a famous beauty of old New York. Her miniature, painted by Edward Greene Malbone, the noted miniature painter, is in the possession of one of her grandchildren, William Bleecker Seaman, Esquire, of the New York Society of Colonial Wars, New York. So lovely were the lineaments that the miniature was reproduced in steel engraving in the annuals of those days under the poetic name of Egeria. It has recently been reproduced in color to form the frontispiece to Anne Hollingsworth Wharton's artistic book, Heirlooms in Miniatures, Philadelphia (1897), and in halftone faces p. 116, of Part II of this book. William Wade was educated at Eton and Oriel College, Oxford, where he matriculated June 1, 1768, aged 17 (Alumni Oxoniensis, Vol. IV., p. 1479). He declined to enter the church, and his father purchased for him a commission in the 38th Regiment of the British Army. He was sent with his regiment to America and took part in the Battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. His cocked hat, pierced by an American musket ball at this battle, is to-day in the possession of his descendant, the Rev. Theodore Leggett, D. D., of West New Brighton, Staten Island, N. Y. Lieut. Wade went to Halifax with his regiment on the evacuation of Boston, and there purchased a Captaincy in the same regiment, May 3, 1776. In June of that year, he was ordered to Staten Island, and took part in the Battle of Brooklyn in August. While stationed in New York, he met his future wife, Ann Dean, one of the belles of the city. She was the daughter of Richard Dean, an Irish gentleman residing in New York city. An ent! ry of the marriage license is preserved at Albany. Her sister married Sir Alexander Hamilton. William Wade resigned his commission in the British service and settled in New York, engaging in commerce. We find from Livermore's History of Cooperstown, N. Y. (1862), 12mo., p. 35, that he was one of the adventurous pioneers of commerce who settled in that township between 1792 and 1797, and engaged in business as a merchant. He remained but a year or two, and then returned to New York, where he died September 27, 1799. 578. RICHARD DEAN ARDEN WADE, born in New York City, April 26, 1796. He was brevetted Major, November 6, 1841, for gallant and successful service in the war against the Florida Indians, was severely wounded at Churubusco (Mexico), and was brevetted Lieutenant Colonel, September 8, 1847, for gallant and meritorious conduct at the battle of Molino del Rey (Mexico). At the address below, there is a Greene Co MO sketch of one William H. WADE, s/o Isaac S. & Eleanor (Lamb) WADE. It says Isaac was a native of VA. Can anyone identify where in VA or the parents of Isaac S. WADE? My WADE family also came to Greene Co MO. However, I've never been able to make a connection with the subject of the sketch. They lived in the same vicinity as this William H. WADE. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mo/greene/bios/w3000011.txt Imogene Bennett Springfield, MO [email protected]
