I am looking for information linking the Wade's of Glenlough 1750 to the Wade's of Lisdillon 1850, both in County Londonderry My GGrandfather was James Wade b. 1850 in Lisdillon. History shows us that the McQuades (now Wades) originated in County Monaghan but around 1000ad they started to drift north through County Tyrone where they split into two groups. Continuing with the northerly drift, one group eventually settled in the Moneymore area, near Lough Neagh while the other group settled in the Glenlough southwest of Claudy. There are two other original Wade Groups in Britain. One came from Cornwall and were probably Flemish Miners brought in for the Tin mining there. The others were Waads from Yorkshire and were probably originally Vikings who settled there. Ofcourse the Vikings also originally settled in both Ireland and Holland so it is feasible that the whole caboodle originated from the Vikings but that is pure speculation. Mike Wade, Argyll, Scotland.
My brick wall is my g-g-grandfather, James Wade, b. abt 1795, an Englishman, who was born, lived to manhood, and married to his first wife in England. To this first union were born five children. This wife died, and James came to the United States. Here he was married 23 Dec 1819 to Margaret Hough, of German descent. They made their home in Pennsylvania. To this union was born ten children: five boys and five girls. [His 4th US child and 2nd male was William Wade, my direct descendant and g-grandfather.] After this family were grown, James Wade went to Ohio on business. There he became ill from cholera and died in May, 1855(8). He was buried in Ohio with none of his family present at the funeral. [All this information is sketchy at best and incomplete. I would especially like to ascertain exactly when James 'came ashore' from across 'the pond' and from what place in England he emigrated; as well as his origins and predecessors in England. Any help in this regard would be most appreciated.] One citation I have indicates that James died in Morrow County, Ohio. A photo from Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, PA shows the grave stone of James Wade, Sr. and indicates that he died at Laharp, Ill? It is not clear whether James was buried in Ill or Ohio and the grave marker in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is in his honor; i.e., he not really buried there. Beside this grave marker is that of his wife Margaret Sutor--Sutor was her married name from her 2nd husband. Maiden name was Margaret Hough. The name of one of James Wade's sons is unknown, and it is believed that he died when very young. I am eager to hear from anyone who can shed light on this James Wade. gary a. wade loveland, co
Here is my direct WADE line, then I have a couple of questions: 1David Bingley WADE m. Sarah Anglyn 2 Samuel C. WADE, b. 1802; d. 1864 3 Catherine WADE, b. abt. 1832; d. 1860-1870; m. James Elliott NESBITT 4 Allen Harrison NESBITT m. Minerva Jane WARFORD 5 William Henry NESBITT m. Mary Frances Cordelia HARDIN 6 Elvie Allen NESBITT - My father My questions: 1.I have seen the lmaiden name of David Bingley WADE's wife Sarah spelled several different ways - how should I have it in my files? 2. The information I have on Samuel C. WADE shows that he enlisted in the Union Army (he would have been about 60 years old), and he died in Randolph Co. Indiana while still serving. If someone could shed some more light on this, I would really appreciate knowing how he died, where he is buried, etc. I would really like to communicate with anyone from this line - especially about the children, etc. of Catherine WADE and James Elliott NESBITT and other information. Will be happy to share anything I have. Thanks! Mary Nesbitt Garrison

I need help in unraveling two George W. Wades that have been confused with each other, both b. in GA about the same time (1836-39.) Both of these were in GA in 1870 and in AL in 1880. (1) George W. Wade; in Floyd Co., GA 1870; Cherokee Co., AL 1880; and Montague Co., TX in 1900. This George m. Mona Elizabeth ---- about 1870- maybe as early as 1861, although more likely he married another lady about 1861. The 1870 and 1880 censuses imply he was born 1846/7; the 1900 says Mar 1837; parents b. in SC and SC (1880); GA and GA in 1900.) This George d.about 1915 in Montague Co. 13 Children (through Frances b. in GA) were: George Beau regard 20 Apr 1862 m. Lucy Ann Morrison James B. (Jack) 1865 m. Ida Corilla Morrison (her 2d husb) Madison Riley 1867 m. Ida Corilla Morrison (her 1st husb) Robert 1868 William Jan 1870 Jasper 1871//2 Florence 1874 Adaline 1876 Mollie E. Dec 1877 Frances 1879 GA Percy (male) 4 Mar 1882 AL Pearl (male) 4 May 1882 (twin) AL Charles A. Feb 1884 AL m. Ollie G. Snider (2) George W. Wade; in Dekalb Co., GA 1870 [in the eastern area remaining in Dekalb after the western area became Fulton in 1853; Dekalb, AL [not GA!] in 1880; not found in 1900 census. This George m. 24 Sep 1865 in Dekalb Co. [this would also be the eastern part of old Dekalb Co.] to Sarah Ann Bloucher. The 1870 census implies he was born 1838/9 and the 1880 1836/7; parents b. in SC and GA]. This 1870 census entry has to be of the George Wade who m. Sarah Ann in 1865. From 1870 and 1880 censuses, Sarah b. GA 1846/7 or 1848/9; parents b. in Ireland and SC) 8 known children were: Virginia A. 1861/2 GA Governor F. 1866 GA William D. 1868 GA James D. 1870 GA Maggie E. 1872 GA Eliza E. 1874 GA Mary E. 1876/7 GA Fannie V. early 1880 AL The western part of Dekalb that became part of Fulton Co. in 1853 has a George W. Wade b. 1846/7 in the 1850 and 1850 household of Davis Caleb Wade (b. Greensville Co., SC, 15 Oct 1812; 1m. 1831, Atlanta, Florence Lucinda Ivy (b. Atlanta ,GA 1812; in 1856, he 2m. Tryphenia Martin.) I have not been able to find another George Wade of the proper age in the 1850 and 1860 GA censuses near old Dekalb Co. In the excellent pedigree in Ancestry.com, Mrs. Gail Denkers identifies the George in Davis Wade's 1850 and 1860 households as the George who m. Sarah Ann Bloucher on 25 Sep 1865 [Dekalb Marriage Records are referenced for this] and shows his birth as 14 Feb 1837 in Decatur, Dekalb Co., GA. [reference for this exact birthday may be a family Bible inherited by a descendant of Tryphenia Martin Wade.] Surprisingly, this account also shows the death date of the George who m. Sarah Ann as 25 Sep 1865 (same as the quoted wedding date!) We know this George was living in 1870 and 1880. No descendants are traced for George. The present compiler is convinced that the George in Davis's 1850 and 1860 household is the one who m. Mona and the one who was in Floyd Co., GA in 1870. Ananlses of later places of residence and numerous common naming patterns (called "onomastic" analyses in more technical articles) with the family members of the first George point strongly toward the first George listed being the son of David and Florence Ivy Wade. I don't detect obviously common naming patterns between the family of George and Sarah Ann and that of Davis Wade. Any relevant questions, comments, or additional data will be greatly appreciated. Has anyone found George W and Sarah Ann in a census later than 1880? Has anyone found a 2d George W in GA 1850 b. 1836-1839? Regards to all and a great 2002, Theron Smith

Slowly, I learn. I am looking for information on the following individual. Abraham Waid b. 1788 South Carolina m. unknown first wife. The 1850 Blount County, Alabama census lists Abraham and wife Ceily (believed to be his second wife.) Living in the household is Stokes B. Waid, age 21. Other sons are Elijah, Greenberry, and Hampton. There may be more children, I just don't have that information or documentation. The Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers and Patriots in Alabama by Louise Milam Julich, copyright 1979 by the Alabama Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, states that Abraham Waid's father was Hamilton (possibly Hampton) Waid who served in the 14th and 10th Virginia Regiments during the Revolutionary War. Hamilton or Hampton is supposed to be buried in Blount County. I have not documented this information to my satisfaction yet. I am searching for Abraham's and Hamilton (Hampton's) burial site. Thomas Runyon married Mary Jane Wade in 1858. They appear in the 1860 Metcalfe County KY census. He was 23, she was 21. His parents were James and Christina Runyon who were living next door in 1860 Metcalfe Co. The problem is that Mary Jane married a second time in October 1868, but there is no indication that I've been able to find of what happened to Thomas. I suspect that he may have been a victim of the civil war, but I can find no record so far of his participation. Any ideas? Thanks, Charlie
