    3. Hello, My great grandfather was George M. CANNON, b. 1878 Nevada or California. George married Nora Ann COLE in 1900 in Kalama, Cowlitz Co. WA. He was drowned in the Coweeman River, near Kelso, on 15 Apr. 1907. >From The Kelsonian, Wednesday, April 17, 1907: Drowned in the Coweeman While working on the logs about five miles above Kelso Monday afternoon, George Cannon, for several years a resident of Kelso, was drowned. Foreman Elmer Evans, who was working with him, says that he had his back turned for a short time when he heard a splash, and turning around saw Cannon disappear under the surface. He never came up, so it is presumed he became frightened and started to swallow water. His body was recovered about two hours later and brought to town. Cannon was a well known character about town, and leaves several brothers and sisters, besides a wife and two children, the latter having been separated from him for a year or more. Undertaker Stoves prepared the body for burial, which was laid to rest in the I. O. O. F. cemetary today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This obituary is one of the very few records that I have of George. I'd like to hear from anyone who has any connection here, or who knows anything about this CANNON family. Thank you, Brad Aumick aumick@gte.net
