I would like to find out if there is an archived resource of obits and articles about the deceased in the Longview Daily News. Also how could I access this information if it is available? I am looking for information about my grandfather Wm. R. Eubanks who died in 1947 but don't know the exact date. Also would obits for Castle Rock residents be in the LDNews or was there a Castle Rock news paper? The date I am looking for in this case is March 12, 1912. for Thomas J. Holce. Thanks for any help or suggestions Donna McKee

I want to thank those of you on both of these lists that sent me information and pictures of Ryderwood this past spring/summer. I made a trip up that way over the Labor Day weekend to see my father (age 78) and my grandmother (age 100). There was no time for genealogy research but we did pull off of I-5 at a place that said Vader;Ryderwood. We asked at the gas station how far it was and they said 4 miles. After we got down the road a ways we found a sign saying 9 miles but we went ahead and drove it. I spent about 30-45 minutes in the town of my birth 51 years ago and got some addresses to follow up on. again, thank you. The histories and pictures you sent instilled even a stronger desire to see my hometown. Sharon in Provo

"They Came to Six Rivers: The Story of Cowlitz County" mentions this steamboat as well as others. The book is extremely interesting reading if you're into the area history. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------175B9476890EC79CBD57BE9A Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear listers, When I obtained a copy of my grandfathers Naturalization Papers from the Washington State Regional Archives I also made a copy of another persons whom my grandfather, August Julius Pittelkau was one of the attesters and witnesses. I found this interesting in that my graqndfather became a citizen on the same day. The rite of passage took place in the Cowlitz County Probate Court on 7 October 1896. The new citizen was Herman Pack or Paek or Pach. However, he signed his name as Herman Poih. If anyone is researching a name similar to this one and thinks that this may be something they want, I would be happy to send it to them. I have the following items I came up with yesterday. A comical colored drawing by Wits (Watts?) with the wording on the front :A Scene along the road To Cowlitz Praire" On the back someone has handwritten "1916 at S.L. Herrens store." I scanned it in gray because I have never figured out to scan color and have it come out the right color! (Will send attachment) There is also a different comical postcard (back says the same 1916 at S.L. Herrens store" but doesn' say Cowlitz Prairie. also....... Have a write up April 10, 1914 of a flag observance and new pole by the Bennett School District 119 (Ethel) and it names all those participating including the surnames, Blair, Canterbury, Zandecki, Wright, Mulchi,Burchett, Gore, Powell, Brooks, Christian, Kerr, Todd, and King. and......... a Onalaska Grade School Program for March 11, 1932 listing all those involved and a Grade School program dated Dec.4th 1931 listing all those involved, and a Onalaska Union High School bulletin for the graduating class of 1931, dated Thursday May 28th...(boy don't you wish you could still get out school in May? and not go back until after Sept.?) If you are interested in any of these please let me know! John Blair
I will do my best as soon as I can get around to it! John Blair
