    3. Hi Betty, This message came through the list just fine. Thursday night, at the Budget Committee meeting, it was mentioned two or 3 Gene-A-Rama's ago, 230 people to Gene-A-Rama and the church capacity is for 250. 230 people was a tight squeeze. Well, we decided to go with multiple speakers for various. One good reason that stuck with me, have one speaker and that person gets sick, then what? I like the idea of multiple speakers and one big name. Like the year with Myra Vanderpool Gormley. She's a local resident who's nationally recognized. I wish I had known about that Gene-A-Rama, I would have been there. Phyllis Betty Cooper wrote: > > I'm hesitant to change the meeting place of our Gene-A-Rama. 3. Phyllis, Hi to all. I kind of lost track of who's agreeing to do what I have to many messages in my E-mail. I'm on this a Choctaw list and lately there have been a 100 or more messages a day.... to many to go thru...this has been going on for about a week. I'll help where I can as the time gets closer but right now I'm up to my eyeballs in alligators. My concern at this point is if we are doing the budget and we go with a 'big name' speaker which I think is a good idea the budget will be different than If we do what we normally do i.e. having basically local/state speakers at the church. If we have a national type speaker we will probably need to seek out a larger location to accommodate a larger audience. I'm not sure of cost but all associated expenses will be typically greater. I don't have the board meeting notes in front of me so not sure who is on the budget committee except Jean and I think Trish was and I'm sure all these thoughts would come out from those two members but I wanted to make sure it was vocalized. Jean I'm sure has some data cost that will back up these thoughts. It's important to decide about the speaker NOW! 3. The one big-name speaker sounds good. I was actually thinking along those lines this morning as I was reading the mail. I thought about Kory Meyerink, who was one of the contributors on "The Source". He works for Ancestry now I think, and is a fairly well-known genealogist from Salt Lake. I may be going down there at the end of September for a conference for work, and would be willing to try and contact him if you think that's a good suggestion. He's a great speaker. I heard him a few years back at the Federal Way FHC where he did an all-day affair there (this had to have been at least 5 years ago...). Let me know if ya'll think this is a possibility... 3. 5th and probably last update. Isn't family great! My brother, Calvin, usually works on Sunday. He has this Sunday off and has volunteered to help SKCGS by working at the booth with me on the 3:00 - 6:00pm. If we had just one more volunteer for Sunday, then I could spend a couple hours with my brother checking out the booths. Our grandmother, Myrtle Haynen, was a MacDonald.
