Yes, Sylva, I have the list. I will not be at the next meeting, but I will make sure you get the labels. I will do a count to let you know how many names are on the list. Trish
Thanks for the info! Sylva
Okay, I can do that. Question: Do you still maintain a list of folks who have attended previous Gene-A-Ramas so we can mail them our brochure?.. I'll have copies of the brochure at the next meeting, but if we are still doing a mailing it would be helpful to know how many names are on the list. Thanks, Sylva
Just thought I'd drop a note and let everyone know that I've updated the Society Calendar, which includes the January and February meeting schedules, as well as the Gene-A-Rama on the 3rd of March. There is a link directly to the page from the front page of the site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~waskcgs/, and you can print a registration form right from there if you like. So, if you have friends that aren't members of the society and don't get newsletters and flyers, encourage them to visit the web site and get the information they need about classes, as well as their registration forms there! I will also be updating the Local/National Calendar soon to include more events as the information becomes available. Sometime after the next meeting, the Library holdings will be updated to reflect the new materials/call numbers in our collection at the KCLS Auburn Branch Library. Mary Kozy SKCGS Webmaster
I too am concerned that no further Canadian census records will be released to the public. I will bring to our January meeting a petition for non-Canadians to sign which urges the Canadian government to allow release of these records. Please plan to sign. Betty Cooper
This URL is a great site for looking up images from the Civil War. I sent a copy of my great-grandfather's picture to the Military History Institute figuring it would always be available. http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usamhi/PhotoDB.html#SearchForm Shirley Simmons
I received this on my Warren Co, NJ list and will forward it to the SKCGS list because I know we have several members doing Canadian research. This morning I found a postcard on eBay under "Kent, Washington" (it was postmarked 1910 from Kent). The front is 2 photos of "The Sheehan Family" - a woman and baby in front of a house. If anyone on the list knows of anyone related to this family, you might pass the information along. It will be on Ebay until Jan.16. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1206185952 Barbara

Larry, The SKCGS Mailing List is not a genealogical or historical research list. You can read more about our list at this web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~waskcgs/maillist.html Here is the web page "About Us" http://www.rootsweb.com/~waskcgs/about_SKCGS.html We do have two genealogists who may be able to help you for a small donation. Phyllis, Sorry I missed the Board Meeting last night. I'm adjusting to my new lifestyle and obviously haven't been paying enough attention to remember the meeting. I will have more brochures ready at the regular meeting and would like help in getting them distributed. In the past many of the members have taken copies to their local libraries, family history centers, etc. I hope I can count on everyone's help again this year. I'll see you at the next meeting. Sylva
Will bring to the January meeting. Thanks. Sylva

I found this on the Washington County, PA list this morning. I'll put it in the next newsletter, but since one just came out, I thought I'd share it now with everyone on the SKCGS list. I found a couple surnames, but no pictures that matched, but it's a great idea. -Barbara I thought I'd pass this along. This guy should be commended! Hi, This came from Don Kerr who is a member of the SCKGS computer interest group. I felt this would be of interest to you. Shirley Simmons The Renton Senior Center now has free computer classes for seniors. Beginning Wednesday Jan 17, I will be teaching an ad hoc class, from 12:30 to 2:30. Any senior can drop in, without registration, and ask for individual beginning lessons on any normal computer activity. There are 8 stations in the computer lab. There are only 3 class periods at present. The room is used for computer classes Wednesday 12:30 to 2:30, Thursday 9:30 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 2:30; other activity is in the lab at other times.
