Has anyone any information in regard to the teaching of DARBY OF ENGLAND in respect to a religious faith. My grandparents. while still in, Germany left the Lutheran Church and accepted the Faith as taught by Darby of England. (Quoted from a dairy that an aunt wrote). To date I have not been able to find any information on this Faith. Emma Livermore
Sure wish I could go. I haven't been to a library in years. Research finally gets to letters coaxed out of relatives and e-mail to others. Have a good time all you swell guys, there might come a day when you can't go. Have excellent results in your research. As always, Estelene Lapinski

There will be something about this in the next newsletter too - but I thought it would be worthwhile to put it on the mailing list. The Historical Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library is embarking on a special collection development by seeking to build their directory collection. They will welcome and all directories from any area. They want directories of churches, any organization, clubs, schools, associations, municipal employees, yearbooks, class lists, reunion lists, teacher list - in short all directories of all kinds. They would have a permanent home at the ACPL. They never dispose of any records. You can contact the librarian at skaufman@acpl.lib.in.us. (This was listed at the request of the ACPL - from the March/April ISGS Newsletter.)
The OUT TO LUNCH BUNCH will meet on April 4 - at 12:30 PM at Vito's Town and Country Restaurant - 3805 Auburn Way North, Auburn, Wash. Everyone is welcome. Please let me know by April 2 if your plan to attend. I need to let the restaurant know how many to plan for. You can reach me at my home phone - 253 631 5363 or by e-mail - ehlivermore@juno.com
Mike et al - Having never been to Fiske, I can't tell you exactly what their focus is. I assume however, from the various individuals I have chatted with who have been there, that it is a wonderful genealogical library that could benefit anyone! :-) Here is a link to the index of their holdings: http://www.fiske.lib.wa.us/bibint.htm#dex I went in and looked just at the list of resources for Georgia (figuring that this is almost as far away from WA as you can get in the US, and I have a lot of ancestry there), and I was suitably impressed with their holdings. I'd love to go too, but still have little ones at home which doesn't make it feasible at the moment (ah for Spring Break when I can get a babysitter!). :-) Mary AtkinsM@aol.com wrote: > Can i ask a dumb question? There is a link to the Fiske Library from SKCGS web page. There is a listing of their collection. Liz
Ditto Mike Atkins...I don't know either. Shirley Taylor
Can i ask a dumb question? (of course you can, Mike) What's in the Fiske Library, I.E. what genealogy stuff does this library focus on? I might be interested if I could get the time off. Mike Atkins Kent
We are going to the Fiske Library (1644 43rd E Seattle) for a private tour Friday, April 6th. We need to be there at 10am. It will cost $5.00 each and we need a minimum of SIX people. I am expecting to take the bus as parking is horrible. BUS: I will be taking the 101 from the south Grady Park and Ride at 8:04am. You can call me for directions at 425-226-1633. Bus fare at that time of day is $1.75 (exact change only) and you can get a transfer to cover the Madison Park bus. The 150 from Auburn/Kent and the 194 from Federal Way also go downtown to the bus tunnel. Call 206-553-3000 for times. Get off the bus at the University stop. Take the 3rd and University exit. Turn left (E) to 4th, on 4th turn left (N) walk two blocks to Pike to catch the #11. # 11 Bus to Madison Park: This bus leaves from 4th and Pike (by the Rite-Aide store) every half hour. The closest times for us would be 9:15am or 9:45am. (The 9:15 will get you there early, the 9:45 will get you there a little late) The Fiske is near 43rd East and East Blaine in the lower level of Pioneer Hall at the end of Blaine on the lake shore, the bus stops very close to it. Please let me know if you would like to come on this little adventure. Martha Richards 425-226-1633 marich@ix.netcom.com
Hi All, A reminder of the computer interest group meeting for Tuesday, March 20, 2001, starting at 7 p.m. Tom Hammond will continue on with file and folder handling and management. Hope to see you there. Shirley Simmons ssimm68359@aol.com
Just a further note regarding Fiske. I noticed this week that they have a web site, and it is now linked from our SKCGS site (both from the Links and Facilities pages). It's a great website and has a growing list of what their holdings are by state and country. You can go directly to that index here: http://www.fiske.lib.wa.us/bibint.htm#dex The Seattle Genealogical Society also has a web site now (it's been up for a few months I believe), and their site contains a general holdings list. Have fun surfing! :-) Mary Kozy SKCGS Webmaster Heutchy wrote: > The latest Fiske newsletter has a notice that I'll include in our next > newsletter, but I'll post it here in case anyone is going the their library > soon: > > "Due to the absence of several volunteers who give most generously of their > time, there is a slight possibility that the library may be closed > unexpectedly at some time during the next few weeks. The latest Fiske newsletter has a notice that I'll include in our next newsletter, but I'll post it here in case anyone is going the their library soon: "Due to the absence of several volunteers who give most generously of their time, there is a slight possibility that the library may be closed unexpectedly at some time during the next few weeks. We suggest that you call there to check before going in. 206-328-2716." - Barbara Heutchy
Just a reminder to bring with you to the meeting on saturday, any books and magazines you might have checked out. That goes for CDs and tapes as well. Don't want to charge you late penalties any more than you want to pay; right? Have a good day. Tom Tombarge
