Just a reminder too that it is a good time to get those books and CDs ready that you have checked out and bring them to the meeting. I will still be in California or Oregon - not sure where right now. Thank you Barb Lansing and Audrey Johnson for filling in again - bless you both!! Have a good meeting! Tom Tombarge
There has been a slight change where we will be meeting for our Saturday meeting. The Reverend from the First Baptist Church called last night and the sanctuary is needed for another group. We will have the meeting in the building across from the patio. We can still have the back area for the traveling library, cd's, copy machine, etc. We just need to redirect everyone to the other building. If you know somebody that will be attending the Saturday meeting, please let them know. Thanks. I knew you use to do the CDs but I know you'll have your hands full this month and next with Tom being gone also. I haven't had anyone offer yet but I'm going to send a note to Guy Moellendorf to see if he can do it in May (he's gone in April also). I'll have Phyllis bring the CDs to the meeting. I leave for Boston early Tuesday morning and won't be back until the following week. Thank you! Tracey, If you can't find anyone to handle the CD's at the traveling library I will be glad to help you out with them for the two months. You can let me know. Audrey ( in case you don't remember I used to handle them)
Hello! I won't be at the next 2 general meetings and need someone to help check in/out the CDs for the traveling library. Would anyone be available to help? I will find a way to get the CDs to the next meeting. Please e-mail me and let me know! Thanks. Tracy Arnold
Thanks for the note. This happened to my parents. They filled out the questionnaire until they got to the part where they ask for the credit card information. That's when my parents e-mailed AOL and they contacted him within minutes (via phone). It turns out the e-mail address is not AOL.com but aol.net. So it's something to keep in mind. Thanks again. FYI... COUNTDOWN TO ELLIS ISLAND OPENING ===================================================================== On 17 April, The American Family Immigration History Center will open on Ellis Island, to great fanfare. Genealogists all over will be logging in to search the newly created database of passenger arrival records of 17 million people who immigrated through the port of New York from 1892-1924. Ellis Island stands as one of the most prominent and recognized symbols of American immigration, with around 5,000 visitors a day walking through the same halls that many of our ancestors passed through so many years ago. To celebrate this historic opening, Ancestry.com will be featuring articles and Web pages to help you locate your immigrant ancestors. Look for articles to help you get the most from passenger arrival records, and take you beyond Ellis Island to follow up with other resources. For those who are unable to locate their ancestors in passenger arrival records, we will look at alternative sources. Stay tuned for all the latest information on the events planned. For more information, see the Immigration History Center page at: http://www.ellisislandrecords.org

Betty Cooper asked me to let the members of the SKCGS know that her husband - Bill - passed away last night. He had been ill since January. Arrangements have not been made. They will be posted when we know. I am sure that Betty and her family will appreciate any prayers and concern for them at this time. Emma Livermore

Phyllis, The Audit committee cannot meet until after the May Bank Statement is received by the treasurer. So make that committee meeting about the 2nd week of June.
