We got several copies of a flyer in the mail from SGS about their Grand Opening this weekend at their new location, 6200 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. The new location is across the street from the National Archives. The open house will be held on Friday, June 1 from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm, and on Saturday, June 2 from 10:00am to 4:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 pm on Saturday. At 1:00 pm the annual SGS Membership Meeting will begin, at which time new Board officers and directors will be installed. After the short business meeting, Lynn Moen will give a presentation on publishing your family history. Cake and coffee will be served. The dignitary for the ribbon cutting will be a major media personality. Parking is available on the street or in the National Archives parking lot. P.S. - sorry to post a private message yesterday. I didn't realize I had done it until I got a copy myself. - Barbara
Hi Emma, I'll let you know later for sure if I can make the lunch. I sure hope so. My car is in the shop this morning for the third time in a week - different thing each time. It's the fuel pump this time. And the boys' car has been in since last Thursday - something broke in the engine, but I forget what the name of it is. What a nuisance all at the same time. We have to take Eric up to Redmond tonight - he has orientation tomorrow and starts Thursday. Hope you had a nice weekend. I'll talk to you soon. - Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Emma H. Phyllis, I'm sorry but June 2nd would be too early. The bank statement for May will not get to me before the full second week of June which begins the 10th. June 9th is out, because my Grandson is having his graduation party that day. I could do it June 12, 13, 14, or 15 in the evening. The Audit committee has to balance the books to the May Bank Statement. Let me know about the dates. Phyllis, What general area does Jean Fisher live? Liz
Dear Phyllis, I would not have a problem volunteering for this but June 9th is not open for me unless it's after 2:00. June 2 is touchy, my folks are coming in June 5th for a first time visit and I really need to get my household ready for company. If you are desperate and meet June 2nd, let me know. My work # is 206 674-3308 and home 253-941-3969 and of course you have my email address. Liz Walker

Hi, Sorry, I didn't include the date for the Computer Interest Group Meeting, Tuesday, May 15, 2001. Shirley
Hello! The South King County Genealogical Society is proud to have Curt Roselle speak on The Paper Trail of a Military Veteran at our next meeting. The military veteran leaves a paper trail containing data of priceless genealogical and historical value. It includes far more than the familiar service and pension records. The trail can begin before he enters service with draft records and military service academy applications, may continue after his service with pension, state bonus, and soliders home records, and may even follow him to life's end and after with National Cemetery and headstone application records. Curt Roselle will discuss his "paper trail" of records with emphasis on the less familiar records. Curt is a member of various local genealogy societies, and is a regular Wednesday volunteer at the Regional Branch of the National Archives, where he also teaches classes in Military, Land, and Native American records. Date: Saturday, May 19th Time: 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. - Social Hour (come browse our Sales Table, checkout our other tables) 10:15 - Noon - Meeting & Program Place: First Baptist Church of Kent 11430 SE 248th Street Kent, Washington NOTE: We will be meeting in the building to the north of the church this month. Topic: The Paper Trail of a Military Veteran Information: Visit us on the web at http://www.rootsweb.com/~waskcgs If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Hi all, Ted Taylor will be presenting a program on GEDCOM. A way of sending your family information to another party that can be read by their software even though they have a different genealogy program. The meeting is held from 7-9 p.m. at the LDS Church, 24419 94th S., Kent. Any questions please call Shirley Simmons, 253-852-5313. See you there. Shirley Simmons
Hi, Phyllis: As of now, I plan on being in town. I'll take the Sunday morning shift. Don't need help if you run short of volunteers. I can always bring Ed. Trish Boogaerts
In our May/June newsletter, I said the Highland Games would be July 25th and 26th. I received an e-mail and phone call about these dates. These dates are incorrect. I sent an e-mail to the Chairman for the correct dates. In the meantime, I found the web site http://www.sshga.org/ The dates are Saturday and Sunday, July 28th and 29th. We have one volunteer for Saturday. We need a total of 12 volunteers and one person to coordinate the shifts with the volunteers. I will bring the sign-up sheet to our Saturday meeting, May 19th. It's a really fun event. If you would like to volunteer, sign the sign-up sheet or contact me.
