There was an obituary in yesterday's Seattle Times for Larry Grothaus, who passed away on June 28. He was the husband of SKCGS past-president Donna Grothaus.

I just read this on one of the other mailing lists I'm on: For those of you who have the need or want to request an ancestor's Social Security information, i.e., original application, effective 7-01-01 the fee increases from $7 to $27. www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm

I have just received the following from a mailing list in New York that I have signed on to. I thought this should be information that I had best pass on to our members. "The SSA is raising their price for a copy of an application for a SS Number from $7.000 to $27.00 - effective July 1, 2001. The form to obtain a copy of the application for a SS number is SS-5 - Original Application for a SS number." If you are sitting on some applications for the SS number of your ancestors, this week would be the time to get your request postmarked.

Marcella, Did you get your question answered about Louise Iodice and if she was a member in the State of Washington? I was told the State Registrar has the individual records of Washington State DAR membership. This is all I know. H, All: Hope you can help me regarding Ophelia Louise Iodice, per the obituary in the Seattle Times on June 16 or 17, 2001. We had a charter member, Louise Owens Fortier Iodice from back in 1984-85. In April, 1999 we had a 'new' member join, Ophelia Iodice. She lived in Federal Way, but recently I got a change of address for her to Tacoma, WA.
