    3. Shirley, If you would like to volunteer (we can always use more volunteers) for Gene-A-Rama, you can contact Sylva Coppock at SylvaCop@aol.com. If you mean to sign-up for the Gene-A-Rama, we will probably have Flyers at the January General Meeting. Also, Flyers will be attached to the SKCGS Newsletter. 2. No Bev, I just updated FTM to 9.0. I got the book but would like to see the video. Is there any reason I should work with Legacy? I've very recently had a colonoscopy and scary body aches. I'm medicating for ulcerated colon. I have 2 photos of the inside of my colon...in living color. Medical procedures are getting so graphic that my photos must go to go into my FTM Scrapalbum. :-)) I'm on the mend now and will see you tomorrow night. Shirley

Phyllis -------- Original Message -------- Subject: For the newsletter and publicity Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 00:22:54 EST From: SylvaCop@aol.com To: sgladwell@qwest.net, phaynen@gte.net, Coanrock@aol.com, mkozy@attglobalnet,blackhrn@gte.net I have verbal confirmation but don't yet have signed contracts, however I expect them back very soon. Gene-A-Rama 2002 Saturday, March 2 We have tentatively contracted with Cyndi Howells of Milton, Washington, and with Connie Lenzen of Portland, Oregon, for two sessions each during Gene-A-Rama on Saturday, March 2, 2002. Cyndi Howells will present: * The 10 Commandments of Internet Genealogy. Instead of spending a lot of time online learning things the hard way by trial and error, why not learn about the ten most important guidelines for participating in the online world of genealogy? Benefit from lessons learned by others along the way. * The Dos and DON'Ts of a Great Genealogy Home Page. We won't discuss the technical methods of creating a personal home page for genealogy, but instead will focus on what things you should be sure to include on your home page to make it a helpful research tool. Learn how having a home page of your own will enhance your research, as well as what things to avoid and how to attract visitors to your web site in order to reach that distant cousin out there in genealogical cyberspace. Connie Lenzen will present: * The Taxing Details; Tax Records for Genealogists. The census taker may have skipped your ancestor, but the taxman rarely did. Tax records provide information on what your ancestor owned, how old he was, where his land was located, suggest clues as to his relatives, and tell you when he arrived of left an area. They confer form and substance to and individual. * Twentieth Century Research; If I Knew Them, Why Can't I Find Them? Genealogists have one, two or three generations of ancestors to track through the 20th century; a century marked by an emphasis on privacy and the closure of records. What does one do if grandpa and grandma did not leave information on the family birthplace? Where do you turn after you have exhausted your home records and your relatives have told you everything they know? This promises to be a very exciting lineup of topics, and should draw a great many people to our annual seminar. We suggest those wanting to attend signup early as seating at the church is limited. Flyers will be distributed beginning in early January. Sylva Coppock Seminar Chairperson --part1_11.1de3a9ac.2929b586_boundary--

    1. [WASKCGS-L] SKCGS License Plate Holder
    2. Phyllis Haynen
    3. This summer I purchased a personalized license plate holder. South King County Genealogical Society Green with White Lettering! Yes, all those letters fit. I have it on my back license plate. I don't get as much tail-gate from other drivers because they want to read the License Plate Holder. This morning at the grocery store, a couple people in the parking lot were walking by and reading the license plate holder very carefully. No one has come up to me to ask about the Society, yet. I'm sure they are very curious. This is a great way to advertise our Society and show our enthusiasm. If you would like to show your enthusiasm, you can purchase the License Plate Holder at The Key Chain booth, Southcenter Mall. The cost was $19.57.
