Lola That is too bad about professional and hobby genealogists not associating, as colaberating is always better. The more information available the better. I do know the State Library is having a problem with some of the Pay for View genealogical sites, as our state law requires the state to provide copies of databases and indexes done by volunteers to these services and then they can charge for access. The state wants them to remain free and open to everyone, so the change the state wants is to require the Pay for View sites to provide a free access url also. As she charges for her services she may not use their Genealogy Library as they are volunteers and don't want her to make a profit on them. They don't want her to join thier association and help with the extraction, indexing etc as she might use the information in her business. It is a situation that they are working on to correct and she will take back the information she has learned from the US to help build better relations. > She loves the LDS Library and spends every minute there she can. > Lola > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Ruby Simonson McNeill [mailto:RubyMc@comcast.net] > > Sent: Sunday, June 06, 2004 9:54 AM > > To: WA-EWGS-L@rootsweb.com > > Subject: Re: [EWGS] Seminar Format > > > > I think, like many others, that I like the idea of a seminar being more > > affordable (such as this one) because we can bring our own lunch.
