Lisa....just so you know....the historical society and genealogical society are two separate entities and have access to different records. You may want to check with both. The historical society is known as the Stevens County Historical Society and the genie society is the Northeast Washington Genealogical Society. Both are based in Colville. Basically the historical society checks only the records that they have in their collection, while the genie society checks records in their own collection and at the courthouse, through family if they are still in the area, and any other sources we can think of depending on what information is being sought. In checking some of the NeWGS indexes, I see that the Hall and Oakes families were listed in the early territorial censuses for Stevens Co. If you would like us to look for something specific, please contact me directly at sdechant@newgs.org and we will be happy to help you. ....Susan Dechant At 05:03 AM 10/13/2004 -0600, you wrote: >______________________________X-Message: #4 >Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2004 20:04:17 +0000 >From: lisa.judd@comcast.net >To: WA-EWGS-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [EWGS] Oakes Family > >Hi Shirley, >Thanks very much for the info.
