Hello, I am looking for any information about the William & Olive (Hall) Oakes family who came from Maine and settled in the Colville area around 1880. There is a Washington Bio about him and a little about Olive's family. Winslow and Osner her brothers lived in the Colville area where there is quite a bit of info about the Silver Mine. I've lost track of Olive after the divorce and where she might be buried. Lisa Hall Judd El Sobrante, CA
Hi Alisa, Your message was posted and sent to me, as I am an Oakes. However, my line is from Kansas to Oregon, but I do know that there is a large Oakes family in the Newport & Coliville, WA area. The Oakes Boys are big in car racing, and well known. I'm sure that others will be writing to you also from the Coliville area (Northeastern Genealogical Society, Colivlle), and may be others from EWGS. If you haven't been in touch with NEGS in Colivlle, you should. Susan DeChant and the others know their area very well, and know everyone. sdechant@newgs.org Let me know if I can be of any help...
