Sharon,Windsor Co.,Vt: settled in 1765 by Connecticut emigrants, the name coming from a town in Connecticut and organized in 1768. tidbit: Sharon was the birthplace of one of the immortals of American history, Joseph Smith, who founded the Mormon religion, born 23 Dec 1805. When Smith was alive, Sharon disowned him because of his views on pologamy, views which brought him much trouble. He was killed by a mob in Carthage,Ill. in 1844.
