List: I stand corrected !!!!! I rechecked my sources in another book, "Collecting Vermont Ancestors".....Vermont was established in 1777 as an independent colony and joined the union in 1791....... As for" FANE."......or was it " New Fane".......I copied the book Vt Heritage) just as it's written: other books say: REDBOOK(Ancestry) states: Newfane ( no other name given) granted by NH in 1763 and NY in 1772 VT GAZETTEER: in 1753 granted by NH as "FANE" in 1772 granted by NY as "Newfane" Cynthia Hi, Cynthia, Vermont became a State in 1791! And I sort of think Newfane was calledNew Fane; at least that's how I've found it called. > Joann Nichols > Brattleboro, VT > jnichols@sover.net > > Cynthia wrote: > > Also, <<<<SNIP>>>Vermont became a state in 1777>>>>>SNIP >> OOPS !!. > :-( > > > > > > > > > ==== CT-RIVER-VALLEY Mailing List ==== > > This list covers genealogy and history of The Connecticut River Valley > > Accuracy is important--double check your spelling and dates . > > list owner, Cynthia : cyndylou3@earthlink.net > > > > ============================== > > Free Web space.
