Hello, I've only been getting this listing for about a week so don't know if you've mentioned this name. My Dad lives a mile north of Downer's Four Corners in Whethersfield. Up on the hill in back of his house there is a huge boulder with this carved in the side: JOSEPH SPAFFORD JULY 4 1858 It's carved in professional looking block letters. The woods around it have grown up so it's hard to find now, but my daughter and I went up there today and took pictures. We would be very interested to know about this man.
