    1. [VTWINDSO] 1916--Springfield, Vt. News.
    2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Mon. Jan. 17, 1916. SPRINGFIELD, VT. Francis Lockwood is seriously ill at his home on Myrtle street with hardening of the arteries. The condition of Elliott Gilson, who is ill with diphtheria at his home on Union street, is much improved. Edward Wallace, an employee of the Vermont Snath company, narrowly escaped being asphyxiated by gas last Friday morning. When he returned Thursday evening he left a gas stove, which is supplied by a coin meter, lighted. During the evening the supply of gas ran short and when members of the household started to get breakfast Friday morning they placed another quarter in the meter, the result being that the gas escaped through the stove in Mr. Wallace's room rendering him unconscious. His condition was discovered by members of the family. Fred C. LaFountain is ill. Mrs. John Huron underwent a serious operation at the hospital last Friday. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby
