Second Generation 2. Ebenezer HOISINGTON (John-1) was born in 1729 in Farmington, Hartford, Connecticut.2 Two Vermont Hollows, A History of Gilead and Little Hollows, by Leyland E. Wood, Published by L.E. Wood, Randolph Vermont 05060, 1976, p. 221. He was a veteran of the French and Indian War. In 1764, began the settlement of Windsor, Vermont. Ebenezer and his nephew, Joab, were among the first settlers. They were both active in the Revolutionary War. Ebenezer became a delegate from Cumberlan County to the N.Y. Provincial Congress. After separaton from N.Y., he served on teh Committee of War for Vermont 1775 - 1783. Four of his sons served in the Revolutionary War from Vermont. His older brother John is recorded on Vermont Revolutionary Rolls as well as eight nephews The four sons wh served are Ebenezer, Jr., Elisha, Elias and Orange who served at age 15. Three other sons were too young for Revolutionary War service. Ebenezer HOISINGTON and Elizabeth MILLER were married on 5 Jul 1751 in Farmington, Hartford, Connecticut.3 Elizabeth MILLER was born. Later, after his enlistment expired he served at other times, once as part of the garrison at Fort Fortitude at Bethel. Fort Fortitude was garrisoned until October 31, 1782. Perhaps while there he had scouted up in Little Hollow and had told his son Sayles about this area. Elias HOISINGTON and Mary STOWELL were married on 7 Mar 1782.7,8 Mary STOWELL was born. Elias HOISINGTON and Mary STOWELL had the following children: +10 i. Sayles HOISINGTON, born in 179313; married Abigail14; died on 22 Dec 1874, Rochester, Windsor, Vermont15. 8. Aaron HOISINGTON (Ebenezer-2, John-1) was born in Dec 1770 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.5 He died in 1834.10 Two Vermont Hollows, A History of Gilead and Little Hollows, by Leyland E. Wood, Published by L.E. Wood, Randolph Vermont 05060, 1976, p. 221. Aaron served three years under General Anthony Wayne in the Ohio Campaign against the Indian tribes in 1793. He remained there for some years and became a famous Indian fighter on the Ohio frontier. Aaron HOISINGTON and Hannah WILLSON were married on 14 Jan 1790 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.5,9 Hannah WILLSON died in Feb 1830.8 Aaron HOISINGTON and Hannah WILLSON had the following children: +11 i. Joab Hoisington was a captain and on November 21, 1775 was commissioned a Colonel of Regiment of Militiamen (Sylvanus Owen of Bethel Gilead served under him for a period). Joab HOISINGTON and Mary BOARDMAN were married on 24 Jul 1757 in Southington, Hartford, Connecticut.4 Mary BOARDMAN was born on 25 Sep 1739.11
