He was Revolutionary soldier, and settled in new Braintree, Mass., with his wife. They had seven children. He purchased lot #9 in the first range east of Rochester line issued to the original grant of W. Lyon. On June 24, 1832, he conveyed all this property to his son Samuel except half of the house and a garden plot. The house which he built and lived in most of his life hasb been long gone and even the cellar hole has been filled in. No evidence remains today of the original settlement of the Granger family. It was located a short distance below the present home of Raymond Smith. Later he moved to Randolph, Vermont where he died. He was twice married, his second wife being a sidow woman by the name of Fish. Rev. He was two months old when his parents came to Randolph. His education was received in the district schools, and he being the oldest child, considerable of the work on his father's farm devolved upon him at a very early age. At the age of twenty-five he was married, and bought a farm adjoining htat of his father, but lived on and carried on the homestead for the first farm west there-from, which is now owned by Horace A. Lamb. He lived here about three years, when he sold out and bought the old Richard Kimball farm, about one and one-half miles north of the Center.
