Charles Marshall Bugbee of Springfield, Massachusetts in his records of 1914, which contained information furnished by Mary Hope (Bugbee) Medbury and by Herbert N. Bugbee of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and from the collected material of Edwin Holmes Bugbee of Killingly, Connecticut, adds the names of three daughtes and their husbands to the seven children of Josiah as originally named by Edwin Holmes Bugbee. The total of ten children was also in the records that were produced by Edgar Curtis Bugbee of Tullahoma, Tennessee in 1920. Although it would be reasonable to assume these daughters wre born in the interval between Sarah and Nathaniel, for lack of the actual dates of their birth, their names are placed at the end of the records. (J.C.P.) Josiah Bugbee was two years old when his father moved to Woodstock, Connecticut. He was one of the first settlers of Ashford, Connecticut, and bought land of Captain John Chandler in 1712 in that part of town called New Scituate. On March 5, 1713, it was voted at the Ashford Proprietors meeting "that each Proprietor have 200 acres set aside for him" and that in accordance with that vote, 45 of the Proprietors drew 200 acres of land each. Josiah Bugbee was one of the 45 Proprietors. He was active in the establishing of the first church at Ashford and on February 12, 1727, he was elected one of the Deacons.
