First Generation 1. Harriet COLLAMER was born on 25 Jun 1819 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.1 Second Generation 2. Jacob COLLAMER was born on 8 Jan 1791 in Troy, Rensselaer, New York.2 He died on 9 Nov 1865.3 Matthias Farnsworth and his Descendants in America. He entered the University of Vermont in 1806, at the age of fifteen and one-half years, and ws graduated from the University in 1810. He then went to St. Albans where he studied law with a Mr. Langworthy, and also with Benjamin Swift, and was admitted to the bar in 1813. He served in 1812 as lieutenant of Artillery during the frontier campaign, having been drafted into the detailed militia service. Soon after his admission to the bar Mr. Collamer moved to Randolph Center; here he found Judge Dudley Chase, a practicing lawyer of ten years standing, and Hon. William Nutting, just beginning his practice. In 1814, Mr. Collamer helped to raise a compny of volunteers to meet the British invasion of New York, and with them marched to Burlington, where he procured a vessel to carry them across the lake to Plattsburgh, not knowing that the victory was won before they reached Burlington. In 1816, Mr. Collamer removed to Royalton, where he lived 20 years, growing continually in his professional standing, and in the respect and love of his fellow citizens. In 1836, he removed his home for tha last time to Woodstock. He represented Royalton in the General Assembly in 1821, '22, '27 and '28. In 1822, '23 and '24 he was State Attorney for Windsor County. In 1833, he was elected one of the Assistant Judges of the Supreme Court. He was continued in this office until 1842, when he declined a re-election. In November, 1843, he was elected to Congress by the Whigs of his district. His services in the House of Represetatives were continued until 1849, in which year he was appointed Post-master-General, which office he held till the death of President Taylor in 1850. Returning to Vermont he was elected one of the Circuit Judges, which position he held till 1854, when the General Assembly elected him United States Senator, he held this office, being once re-elected, till 1865. On the 9th of November, 1865, ended the life of this illustrious man. His life was full of honors, and he never held an office he did not fill full, nor to which he did not add honor. Edward COLLAMER was born on 15 Jan 1827 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.1 He died on 15 Nov 1891.3 vi. Ellen COLLAMER was born on 2 Sep 1831 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.1 vii. Frances COLLAMER was born on 25 Oct 1834 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.1 She died in Nov 1834 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.1 Third Generation 4. Samuel COLLAMER was born. Thomas FARNSWORTH and Elizabeth TUTTLE were married in Littleton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.8 15. Elizabeth TUTTLE was born. Thomas FARNSWORTH and Elizabeth TUTTLE had the following children: i.
