I may have found a new but distant relative today and thought I'd ask if anyone knows about him: Charles Booth SHEDD, born December 30, 1875 at Weathersfield, VT; father Charles W. Shedd b. Sherburn, VT; mother Olive __?__ b. Florida, MA. The 1850 census of Sherburn, VT teaches that a Charles W. Shedd, age 8 months, resided there at the household of Charles D. Shedd and his wife Eliza __?__. So, maybe Charles D. Shedd of Sherburne was the dad of Charles W. Shedd of Weathersfield who was the dad of Charles Booth Shedd of Weathersfied. Charles D. did live at Weathersfield awhile before scooting over to Center Randolph to sell groceries and other hardware, like saws and churns. Eliza __?__ (b. Massachusetts) was the first wife of Charled D. Shedd, C.B.'s presumed grandpa. Charles D. married second Eliza Adelaide Powers, daughter of Jonathan Powers and Elizabeth Daly of Allovertheplace, VT (Eliza A. Powers changed her name to Adelaide E. Shedd, when she married, so as not to be second Eliza as well.) And Jonathan was probably the brother of my Benjamin B. Powers of Hartford, VT, both probably sons of William Powers, probably son of Andrew of Woodstock, VT. So, C.B. would be my Ben's stepgrandnewphew, or so. Just thought I'd ask. [snip] Hi, Lester: I looked in my Weathersfield sources and did not find any Charles SHEDD, in "Weathersfield Burying Grounds", or in the indexes to "Weathersfield Century One", or "Weathersfield Century Two". I also checked the two volumes of Springfield history, just in case. No luck there either. Darrell Darrell A. Martin a native Vermonter currently in exile in Addison, Illinois [email protected]
