Looking for information on the following Stewards (also spelled Stewart or Stuart) who appear in Barnard between 1779 and later. Elkanah Steward was listed on a list of individuals that attended the second town meeting of Barnard in Mar. 1779. By 1790 he does not appear on the First Federal Census. John and Samuel Steward; John and Samuel Steward appear on a List of Freeman in 1791. On the 1790 census Samuel appears as a head of household. John does not appear on a census until 1800 at which time him and Samuel both appear as heads of households. In 1820 Samuel does not appear on the census. His widow does though her name was Sarah. Need assistance in finding out if Samuel, John, and Elkanah left wills in Barnard. Elkanah probably died between 1779 and 1790. Samuel died between 1810 and 1820 as I believe his sons started migrating to Chautauqua Co., NY during this time frame. John showed on the 1840 census at age 70 - 80.
