We found most all of the burial sites we were attempting to find. Mary Ann Powell's site is easy to find but Rowland's is difficult. We did find what we believe is his burial site but the stone is badly deterioted. The entire cemetery has not been taken care of in years, at least, in 1999 it hadn't. After much searching we found, what we believe to be Rowland's tombstone near the edge of the Jerico road, some distance from Mary Ann's. It was difficult to confirm anything other than the name, Rowland, and the date 1801. The stone is in terrible shape but we felt we had found evidence that would be hard to deny. Hopefully, someone else will soon confirm our findings." After receiving this letter, I immediately went back to Vermont to see the Delano Cemetery once again. I looked very carefully at the stones both readable and unreadable. I couldn't find any stone that had the words Rowland or 1801 on them. Mary's headstone was mostly readable. I recorded her headstone as follows: ------------------------------------------------------- In Memory of Mrs. Mary Powell dec. Sept. -- 1806 AE tat. 77 Ah dearest tenderest pa-- must I mourn My heavy loss, & bathe with tears your urn. Since now no more to me you must return The above named was consort to Mr. Rowland Powell IV ------------------------------------------------------- Where is Rowland Powell buried in the Delano Cemetery? There is a space to the left of Mary's headstone that could be the final resting place for Rowland. There is a row which has Stephen Tilden, etc., open space, Mrs Mary Powell, Mrs. Molly Powell. Our biggest hope is that someone will visit the Delano Cemetery and share their findings with us. (sigh!)
