First Generation 1. Albert Morris SALISBURY was born on 12 Dec 1894 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.1 Second Generation 2. Herbert B. (twin) SALISBURY was born on 12 Jun 1857 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.2 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 122. After the death of his brother, Albert P. Salisbury, Herbert accepted his younger brother into the family business and became his partner. although the business is no longer a private one, the company having been incorporated April 4, 1892. Herbert has spent the greater part of his time on the road in the interest of the business, making trips through New England, and a part of New York State. They manufacture chamber furniture of all kinds, supplying many wholesale firms in other parts of the country, and when running full employ about fifty hands. Herbert B. (twin) SALISBURY and Minnie J. SMITH were married on 22 Jul 1886.1 3. Minnie J. SMITH was born in 1860 in Randolph, Orange, Vermont.3 She died on 12 Feb 1895 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.1 Herbert B. (twin) SALISBURY and Minnie J. SMITH had the following children: i. Franklin Alonzo SALISBURY was born on 10 Jun 1887 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.1 ii. Philip Turner SALISBURY was born on 17 Nov 1891 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.1 1 iii. Albert Morris SALISBURY. Third Generation 4. Franklin B. SALISBURY was born on 20 Aug 1826 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.4 He died on 24 May 1881 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.5 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 121. Began his life work as a school teacher, but in 1848 he engaged in trade in his native village, which he continued until 1852, when he moved to Missouri, and continued in a mercantile business. He returend to West Randolph in 1855, and for the next nine years he successfully conducted a general merchandise store on Main Street. In 1866, he began the manufacture of furniture on teh north side of the river and continued in the same until 1868. His brother Thomas, and son, William F., became partners in the business in 1868, and a new facroty was erected on the present site, but in 1876 Franklin B. Salisbury became sole proprietor. In 1880, this factory was destroyed by fire, and early in the spring of 1881 he began the erection of a new factory of large dimensions on the site where the present factory now stands but his death occured May 24, 1881, before the building was completed. Mr. Salisbury was an earnest christian, and a prominent member of the Congregational Church. He served on the building committee at the time the church buidling ws erected in West Randolph, and for several years was superintendent of the Sunday-School, an office previously held by his father. He was elected deacon in 1881, and ws chorister of the choir for twenty years. He held several town offices, and fro 1862 to 1865 was postmaster of the west village. Franklin B. SALISBURY and Ellen Frances FLINN were married on 29 Feb 1848 in Bethel, Windsor, Vermont.5 5. Ellen Frances FLINN was born. Franklin B. SALISBURY and Ellen Frances FLINN had the following children: i. William F. SALISBURY was born on 2 Sep 1849 in West Randolph, Orange, Vermont.2 He died on 20 Aug 1875.1 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 122. After completing his studies in the common schools, he entered the store of his father and uncle, where he was employed as manager of the retail department for a number of years. ii. Albert P. When Albert and his brother Herbert, were but thirteen years old they began wood carving in the factory of their father during the vacation from school, forming a partnership by themselves, keeping a complete set of books and enjoying the ups and downs of the ordinary business life. At the time of their father's death they were both employed in the business, and immediately took the work in their own hands, completed the factory then in rocess of construction, and this factory has been running successfully and continuously ever since. 2 iii. SALISBURY was born on 13 Nov 1870 in Randolph, Orange, Vermont.2 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 122. He attended the public schools, and was graduated from the high school at West Randolph in 1889. He immediately entered the factory in the service of his brothers and at the end of three years he became a partner in the firm, his brother Albert P., having died. He is a member of Randolph Lodge, No. 48, I.O.O.F. v. Mary E. SALISBURY died on 12 Dec 1881 in Randolph, Orange, Vermont.6 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 122. An adopted daughter. 6. Alonzo D. SMITH was born on 28 Jul 1808 in Brookfield, Orange, Vermont.7 He died on 10 Feb 1869 in Randolph, Orange, Vermont.7 Illustrated Historical Souvenier of Randolph, Vermont, Compiled & Published by Nickenson & Cox, Published Randolph, Vermont 1895, p. 141. Was in the mercantile buisiness in West Randolph, and run the old tannery above Henry Chandler's He died near there about twenty-five years ago. The late Emaline T. Smith was his second wife. Three of his daughters live in and near Boston. One son is in the West. His odlest son, Hobart, was a merchant in West Randolph several years. Alonzo D. SMITH and Emeline TURNER were married on 15 Jan 1857 in Randolph, Orange, Vermont.7,8 7.
