I don't know where the "state marriage index" comes from. Do you mean it is an index of all the marriages in the microfilms at the Vermont Records Reseach place in Middlesex? If so, wow, what a job for someone! I have always understood that what is in the VT microfilm Records Research at Middlesex is not all of it, as some towns never sent their records in to be microfilmed. So it is worth your trouble to look in other places, and I understand that the LDS people went around recently to the towns (I saw them in Springfield a few years ago) and filmed all the records. So if you can find an LDS center near you, it is worth the trip, they may have what you are looking for. I will check the church records for Weathersfield when I am up there this weekend, I hope.
