    1. [VTWINDSO] Emerson's of the Reading area

    3. List, looking for some ideas on finding my lost ancestor.. Here is what I do know: Leicester Emerson or Lester Emerson of the Reading area. He had a farm out on the Brown schoolhouse road. He was born July 02, 1796 in Reading, the son of John and Prudence (Crowdrey) Emerson. He died according to the Crowdrey book on February 22, 1886 in Reading area and Lester is mentioned in Child's "Gazetteer of Windsor County, VT." with a farm, off route 29, in Reading, VT. He died alone on February 22, 1886. He was married to Olive Wood but family moved to Minnesota in early 1850's but Lester turned back (found him in the 1850 Illinois Census then he was in the 1870 Vermont census in Reading). I did find an old map when I was in Reading at the local hardware store (go figure).. But I have yet to find a death record or possible place he might be buried. There is a cemetery on the old homestead where John and Prudence are buried but no marker for Leicester (maybe noone put up a stone for him). I have looked in Middlesex at the Vital Records and Darrell did not come up with a probate record in the index. Any other possible places to look? Hope to get back there again next year. -- Regards, Jerry
