    2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Mon. Mar. 20, 1944. W.BRIDGEWATER GIRL TEACHES BRAILLE IN ARMY. BRIDGEWATER, March 19--Pvt. Louise M. Carter of West Bridgewater, a member of the medical unit, WAC detachment, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., has been assigned to Valley Forge General hospital, Phoenixville, Pa. There under her guidance and instruction, men who have been blinded as the result of injuries received in combat, will learn the use of Braille. Pvt. Carter, when she studied Braille with the public welfare department of Vermont at Montpelier, had no realization that she would one day be able to make so valuable a contribution, as a member of the Army of the United States to fellow soldiers. The only Braille instructor in the WAC, she is one of the few in the Army, and during her off-duty hours at night, instructed volunteer group, both at Fort Oglethorpe and her previous station, Hot Springs, Ark.
