    3. Has anyone researched the family of Timothy Bancroft who lived in Barnard, Windsor Co., VT? I believe his wife was named Lucy Day. I have heard that they had a daughter, Diantha, who married -?- St. John. Any information will be welcome. Joann Nichols

    3. Joann, I have only secondary sources. The "History of Barnard, Vermont," William Monroe Newton, ed., says that Timothy Bancroft married Lucy Day, who was born May 22, 1792, but names only Rebecca and Abbie as their children, adding "There were perhaps other children of Timothy and Lucy (Day) Bancroft, but we have no record of them." The History speculated that Timothy came from Nelson, NH, so I consulted "A History of Nelson, New Hampshire, 1767 - 1967," Parke Hardy Struthers ed. Which said that Timothy was born in Nelson and that he married Jerusha Day. In the Day section of the Nelson book, it said that Lt. Peletiah Day (son of Benjamin Day and his nameless first wife) was the father of Lucy Day, born 22 May 1792. I find nothing about anyone with the surname St. John in either book, and nothing about Diantha.
