    1. Howard Family
    2. Harry Howard
    3. Hello List, I could use some help finding information on the family of Benoni HOWARD and Hannah DANA, m 7 Jul 1811 in Pomfret. Both are suppose to be buried at Bunker Hill Cemetary. They moved to Cabot before 1814 and while there had the following children; Hannah Sophia HOWARD John Mann HOWARD Josephfine Moranda HOWARD Juda Mariah HOWARD Mary Lucitta HOWARD Sarah Jane HOWARD Adam Snow HOWARD, b. 28 Jun 1818 Alearnia Septiumius HOWARD The family return to Pomfret after 1922. I am interested in Adam Snow HOWARD. The 1850 census shows an Adam Howard married to a Jane (MURRAY?) with children; Orson A. HOWARD Eugene O. HOWARD (Believe him to be my GtGrFather) Bernard HOWARD Edward R. HOWARD Is Adam Snow Howard the same Adam Howard that married Jane? I need the marriage record of Adam to Jane, probably about 1838 to 1840 to show this connection. Adam and his family left Pomfret in 1852 and moved to Canton, St. Lawrence, NY where additional children were added. Benoni was a farmer. Adam was a horse trader/trainer and worked with horses all of his life. Since I'm in Florida and unable to research in VT., I'm hoping some kind soul(s) will be able to help me make this link. Thanks in advance. Harry Howard

    1. Harris & Sally Quimby Hanks, Seymour Hanks, Lydia Farmer
    2. Hello, I am new to the list. I am searching for any information of Harris and Sally Quimby Hanks, especially their children. Harris was b. 3-9-1793 in Thetford son of Asa and Mary Harris Hanks. Harris married Sally Quimby 3-26-1816 in Norwich, Windsor, VT. I believe they may have had a son named Seymour, but I have no proof of that, just the fact that Seymour was born in Vermont, and named his first child Antha, and Harris had a sister named Antha. Seymour married Lydia Farmer who was also born in Vermont. Since Antha is such an uncommon name, I am grasping at a straw here and hoping that Seymour named her after someone in her family. If I can help anyone with research in South Dakota, I am more than willing. Ronette from South Dakota Researching Hanks, Morse, Collins, Burrell, Shaw, Carpenter, Hosington, Hoselton Have extensive information on surnames Blachford and Heywood, and am more than willing to share. Thanks, Ronette from South Dakota

    3. I have been posting town histories on 10 list......but starting as of now, I will not be posting to any other list other than the : Ct-River-Valley-L@rootsweb.com and CtHartfo-L@rootsweb.com The reason for this decsion is because so many folks subscribe to the above list as well as your list (as I do)and end up getting 8-9 of the same messages and with that in mind, it is taking up valued space at the Rootsweb search sites because it's repetitive information being stored there. If you want to continue getting the town histories, subscribe to the above named lists. ( description of both list is on rootsweb home pages). 1. Rock carving, SPAFFORD
    2. M.L.B.
    3. Hello, I've only been getting this listing for about a week so don't know if you've mentioned this name. My Dad lives a mile north of Downer's Four Corners in Whethersfield. Up on the hill in back of his house there is a huge boulder with this carved in the side: JOSEPH SPAFFORD JULY 4 1858 It's carved in professional looking block letters. The woods around it have grown up so it's hard to find now, but my daughter and I went up there today and took pictures. We would be very interested to know about this man. He might have owned the property at one time. Let me know if any one has any information. Thanks!! Mary Lou [Hagen] Bastian mlbastian@turbont.net Claremont, NH

Or possibly Crown Point Road burying ground ... as Jerahmeel and family lived on that road. And wondered if there is an Anna, Cynthia or Patty close by. If you'll email me privately, we can make arrangements. Much appreciate any help I can get. Cheers, Pat

    3. Cynthia was very interested in your Part 2 and wondered if you had already put on Part 1 and I'd missed it. Was curious that Asahel POWERS' father, Jerahmeel(Jerathmiel)POWERS (my 4GGF) was not listed as I thought he was still there at the time and had brought his family as one of the early settlers in 1771. That year Asahel was then 13; my 3GGF, David, 20 but living at home and Eunice POWERS, 15, married John NOTT (on Freeman list)the next year (great story, p221, Fred Richardsons's "18C Springfield from Wilderness to Vermont Statehood 1751 to 1791"). Jerahmeel was also one of the grantees of the Town of Walpole. I recommend Fred's book as packed with all kinds of info. As to your basic question, I'm very delighted to see more info on this neck of the woods ... Thanks, Pat New Hampton NH

    3. List: I am doing these early histories for the Connecticut Valley for the Ct-River-Valley mailing list and the Hartford County Conn mailing list and including the above mailing list since most of the early settlers and the later migrants to Vermont lived in these areas. If you subscribe to more than 2 of these list, you will get extra mailings.....it's important that all the list work together as the descendants today are related one way or another if your ancestors lived in the Connecticut Valley prior to 1840's. If you feel that this isnt helping any with your searches..let me know. 1. Chester, VT FHC films; offer to look
    2. Darrell A. Martin
    3. Hi, everybody: In a search for additional documentation on Duttons in Chester, Vermont, I have ordered just about all the Chester-related films at the Naperville, Illinois FHC. They should be in any day now, and I will be cranking the old microfilm machine, in the evenings after work, for a while. If you will send me your SPECIFIC interests in Chester (no surname lists, please!), I will do my "darndest" to check for you. No promises, but you never know what I might stumble across.
