Sharon,Windsor Co.,Vt: settled in 1765 by Connecticut emigrants, the name coming from a town in Connecticut and organized in 1768. tidbit: Sharon was the birthplace of one of the immortals of American history, Joseph Smith, who founded the Mormon religion, born 23 Dec 1805. When Smith was alive, Sharon disowned him because of his views on pologamy, views which brought him much trouble. He was killed by a mob in Carthage,Ill. in 1844. Does anyone know if there is an index for the county in the 1870 or 1880 censuses? Maybe done by a genealogy society? I can't find the people I'm looking for short of going through the entire county line by line. No kids under 10 for the 1880 census either.... Thanks!

Lists: just returned from scouring the local cemeteries of Royalton and Bethel, Vermont (enjoying the views as well) and need assistance with: Horace B. Cole: born Royalston,Vt Jan 12,1841 and died Aug 12,1922..he is buried in the Gilead Road Cemetery,Bethel,Vermont Eliza J.Dunbar (wife) born 6 Dec 1851 in Grantham,NH ? died, 15 July 1918 buried in the Gilead Road Cemetery, Bethel,Vt The names below are of their children....does anyone know if they have any descendants living? Lilla M. (Cole) Wood...1881-1927 (married Albert Wood of Rochester,Vt. in 1906 and both are in Gilead Cemetery, Bethel,Vt Lottie E.(Cole)Mayo...married Fred A. Mayo of Rochester,Vt in 1889 dont know where they are buried....... Luella F.(Cole)Warner...1891-1983 ..married Fred E.Warner in 1914 (this one had flowers on the grave)Gilead Rd.Cemetery,Bethel,Vt The family lived in Rochester for years and during Eliza's death in Bethel. -------------------------- Can anyone tell me if the following are related to Horace Cole??
