    3. Why don't you post the names of the ancestors and perhaps some of us who live in the area can check the various town offices. You could also check the Windsor County Probate records.

    2. > Is anyone on this list researching Solomon > Snell of Chester,Vt. ? He died in 1800. > Solomon Snell was married to Abigail Rice, had 5 sons and 5 daughters. I can't really help specifically with Solomon Snell, but his son Moses is a clue. My Ebenezer Blossom of Woodstock was the son of Sylvanus Blossom and Charity Snell. Charity had a brother named Moses, b. 1713. They were the children of Amos Snell (Thomas) and Mary Packard, daughter of Samuel Packard Jr. Amos was the son of Thomas Snell, born England, and Martha Harris, dau. of Arthur. Thomas settled in West Bridgewater, MA ca. 1665, and was the largest landholder in the area. Source: History of Early Settlement of Bridgewater, by Nahum Mitchell, 1840; reprint 1897 by Henry T. Pratt. The book is posted on line, at least the biographical sketches are. Hope this helps, and it is great to hear someone else shares a research area. Helen Benter

    2. Maybe someone here can help - or send me in a direction to locate the answer. I have a couple of ancestors who lived around the Barnard/Woodstock/Pomfret area. I am trying to find a set of parents for them, but nobody is being cooperative. I am trying to see if I can find references to them in the wills of possible relatives from outside Vermont (mainly Ct and Ma.) but I ran into a little problem. I found a listing of a couple of wills of people who died in Hampshire Co., Mass. The county won't send copies. Does anyone know how to "translate" box/page # into Volume # so I can order films from the library to see if any of that information pertains to my family? Valerie

    3. Greetings: Just a short note that I am writing from the house of my uncle in the Dutton District of Springfield, Vermont. For those of you who live in Vermont, this won't mean much. But it sure is nice to be here, instead of Addison, Illinois, under the traffic pattern at O'Hare Airport. I did two things that are genealogical; I stopped by the Probate Office in North Springfield, and I visited the Plain Cemetery in Weathersfield. But they were both mostly excuses for driving around in the greenery. I will "report" on some of that later. The reason for my trip is actually to visit relatives and attend my 35th H.S. reunion. 2. Bolster- Kent A pretty house wedding took place at the home of A. W. Bolster on the 25th inst., when his daughter, Myrtle B. was united in marriage to Mr. Duane E. Kent of this place. The house was profusely decorated with cut flowers, especially the parlor, where the ceremony was performed. Miss Drusilla E. Kent and Wyatt A. Kent sister and brother of the groom, acted as bridesmaid and groomsman. The bride wore a dress of white chiffon trimmed with lace and white satin ribbon and carried white roses. The bridesmaid was also dressed in white and carried carnations. Promptly at 2 o'clock the couples entered the room to the strains of Mendelssohns wedding march, ably rendered by Mrs. C. P. Mellen of Boston, where the ceremony was impressivly performed by the Rev. Mr. Bennett of the Mechanicsville Methodist Church under a double arch of evergreens and white flower tied with ribbons. There were about 30 relatives and friends present. The presents were numerous and beautiful. After the ceremony some time was spent in social intercourse, during which time refreshments were served, and at 5:30 Mr. and Mrs Kent entered a carriage amid a shower of rice and the sound of horns and bells, and were driven to Wallingford, where they took the train for a short bridal tour. After their return Mrs Kent will reside with her parents and continue her millinery business for a time. Mr. Kent takes a position with G. W. Parkhurst in Rutland.

We found most all of the burial sites we were attempting to find. Mary Ann Powell's site is easy to find but Rowland's is difficult. We did find what we believe is his burial site but the stone is badly deterioted. The entire cemetery has not been taken care of in years, at least, in 1999 it hadn't. After much searching we found, what we believe to be Rowland's tombstone near the edge of the Jerico road, some distance from Mary Ann's. It was difficult to confirm anything other than the name, Rowland, and the date 1801. The stone is in terrible shape but we felt we had found evidence that would be hard to deny. Hopefully, someone else will soon confirm our findings." After receiving this letter, I immediately went back to Vermont to see the Delano Cemetery once again. I looked very carefully at the stones both readable and unreadable. I couldn't find any stone that had the words Rowland or 1801 on them. Mary's headstone was mostly readable. I recorded her headstone as follows: ------------------------------------------------------- In Memory of Mrs. Mary Powell dec. Sept. -- 1806 AE tat. 77 Ah dearest tenderest pa-- must I mourn My heavy loss, & bathe with tears your urn. Since now no more to me you must return The above named was consort to Mr. Rowland Powell IV ------------------------------------------------------- Where is Rowland Powell buried in the Delano Cemetery? There is a space to the left of Mary's headstone that could be the final resting place for Rowland. There is a row which has Stephen Tilden, etc., open space, Mrs Mary Powell, Mrs. Molly Powell. Our biggest hope is that someone will visit the Delano Cemetery and share their findings with us. (sigh!) 3. I have finally got all inventories up for all four of the cemeteries in Plymouth - I just added the (quite brief) list for the Kingdom cemetery, after confirming with Leon Parkhurst, the local Vermont Old Cemeteries Association representative, that the list I had of burials before 1870 was likely as complete as anything that could be done today. There are also photos of the Kingdom cemtery, thanks to Charlotte Davis, Bethel town host, who took them for me on her trip to the area earlier this year.
