I have a copy of the death record for Timothy Eastman age 86, wife Easther Eastman d. June 28, 1804, buried Houghton Cemetery, remarks soldier. This is from the Middlesex Vt. records center. Now for my questions, Does anyone know if Houghton Cemetery is in the town of Windsor? And is there an office or any place where I can get a copy to the cemetery records for Timothy Eastman? I am looking for a death record of his wife Esther, who I beleived died in 1806. Also, is there a Baptist Church in Windsor? or if it has closed, where would the church records have gone? There is a note in the Congregational Church Records that Timothy and his wife left to join the Baptists. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hi Marilyn, Lot Bolster is not listed in the book "Rolls of Vermont Soldiers In the Revolutionary War 1775-1783", Camp Johnson, Colchester, Vermont, ©1998. For Renseelear Co., NY, records, contact my cousin, Janet Derbyshire at [email protected] Good luck, Jan Jordan in Northern Vermont [email protected] Does anybody know anything about Abner born VT? in 1783 and Lot Bolster? Lot also owned property in Petersburg Twp., Renesselaer Co. NY. Marilyn Was Lot a Revolutionary War Soldier?>>
Does anybody know anything about Abner and Lot Bolster. Abner was said by one of his descendants to have been born in VT in 1783. While I have many other Bolsters in my direct line, I have nothing about Abner and Lot. Most of my line were in Weston, Londonderry, Andover, Springfield and Rutland. Lot also owned property in Petersburg Twp., Renesselaer Co. NY. Any suggestions about this would be welcome. Thanks, Marilyn My cousin and I are trying to write a book about the family and we think, but can't prove, that Lot was a Revolutionary War Soldier.

For those new to the roots web and those of you veterans I would like to say that there are many folks who subscribe that are willing to do what they can to help others in their research. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 844 prisoners of war on record from the state of Vermony and about 300 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I also do the research for any prisoners from any state that were here. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of mispellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. Please do not concider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. I plan to reply to Joann privately off-list about results, but I am also a big believer in the list archives, so this part is really for the archives and for the next person who will be asking the same question. From the "Barbour Collection" VRs index film of the LDS. The place is all Lebanon, Connecticut. The surname is all "Closson, Clauson" unless otherwise noted. Miriam Baldwin Closson - none Miriam Closson - none (none by maiden name) Mary Crossman - none Joseph Chapman - none Joseph Closson - none Nehemiah Closson/Clauson, son of Nehemiah Jr. and Miriam, born 1758, no siblings listed Nehemiah Jr, married Miriam Crosman, 1758 (no parents for Miriam; no other Crosmans at all; she's a UFO girl) Nehemiah, son of John and Zerviah, born 1736 John married Zerviah Sweetland, 1735 (no parents for John, and I forgot to check Sweetland). John and Zerviah also had a kid named Eleazer, b. "1709 (1739?)", and Simeon b. 1741. Nehemiah and Elizabeth (a married couple), no birth for Nehemiah, no marriage record to Elizabeth, so Elizabeth has no surname. This couple had some kids in the 1720s, but none named Nehemiah Jr. on this index. But, anyway, there was indeed an elder Nehemiah running around in addition to the others, just for the record. The above is from a typewritten index, and it is subject to error and boo-boos. Nehemiah "Jr" has no parents given, not specifically, literally, per se, with the "Jr" attached, so he might be a son of John, or he might not, I suppose. The dates would work, if John was a busy guy. Lester Powers "Joann H. Nichols" <[email protected]> asked: >>>>> Nehemiah Closson b. 13 Dec. 1758 at Lebanon, Windham Co., CT. He was married to Mary Crossman on 13 July 1783 at Nobletown, Columbia Co., NY, and he died 16 April 1839. Can anyone tell me Nehemiah's parents and siblings? I am seeking information on a Miriam Baldwin Closson who was married to a Joseph Chapman. For a while Nehemiah Closson and Joseph Closson were living in Hartford, Windsor Co., VT. I also need help with the parents of Joseph Chapman. Thanks for any information. Joann Nichols <<<<< ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Joann Your Nehemiah Closson will probably be in the "Barbour Collection" and so a piece o' cake. My Powells came from Lebanon, Connecticut, though my memory circuits suggest New London County there. Anyway, that film is on permanent loan at my FHC. My Lebanon Powells are on it, so I see no reason why your Clossons shouldn't be too. It's all done index-fashion, so just a simple lookup. Just between us ancestral Lebanoners. Yours from Lebanon to Hartford. Mine from Lebanon to Hartford. Small world. Lester "Joann H. Martha, the Vermont Sec. of State on the Vermont state website has the records. A census of sorts was taken every two years and I found my ggreat uncle who was there from 1879-1884 when he died in prison. I am sorry that I cannot give you the exact address as my computer crashed and I lost my files..unfortunately I had not printed a hard copy. I learned a lesson. I think if you just type in Vermont or even go to Cyndislist of gov. agencies you can get to the sec. of state.
Windsor prison is still in operation, but moved out of downtown Windsor. I have been told by the town clerk that there is an annual census of the prison located at the VT State Library in Montpelier. Local residents told me that when they executed someone, the lights in the whole town would dim. Father was probably Benjamon Forbes who moved from MA to Marl., NH abt 1829. His mother was probably Huldah PROUTY, his 2nd m. 31 Jan 1821. They were supposed to have had 4 ch: Huldah, Lucinda, John and Waldo. This info on Benjamin came from "History of Marlborough, NH" by Charles Bemis in response to a posting I made to MAWORCES Mailing List. Waldo m. bef 1852 to Abbie (or Ann) McNEILL (or MacNeil) b. Oakham, MA. They had 4 daughters: Maria b. abt 1852, Emma b. abt 1854, Ella b. abt 1857 and Hattie S. b. 13 Mar 1862 at Clinton, MA. Hattie m. Ludwig V. B. MOONEY 17 June 1886 and was lifelong resident of Leominster, MA. 1920 Clinton MA Census shows NH as b. place for both Waldo and Abbie, however Hattie's m. and dau. b. vital records both list Clinton as Hattie's b. place. Hattie was my grandmother -- my mother and I were both b. in Leominster. Hope someone can suggest sources of more info. Suggestions are most welcome.
