    1. Re: [VTWINDSO] Elisha FLOWERS or Artimas BEERS - Hartland, VT 1810-1820
    2. Bev Lasure
    3. From "Hartland in the Revolutionary War" by Dennis Flowers: John Flower, the father of Elisha. The Flowers came from Hartford, Conn. at the early settlement of the town, in exactly what year is not known. They made their first pitch on what was afterward the Parson Breck farm, subsequently exchanging with someone who desired "improved" land, for the land now occupied by W. E. Davis......Shubel Lamphear, Hartland's blind showman once lived in the Artemas Beers house, the first house below W. E. Davis'......" This would indicate that the Flowers and Beers were next door neighbors. I believe this Elisha was a generations older than the one you are looking for since he fought in the Revolution. He died July 5, 1812 at age 56 and is buried in the Plain Cemetery in Hartland. > > > U ==== VTWINDSO Mailing List ==== > Rootsweb's Windsor County, Vermont Mailing List > Acceptable Use Policy at: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html > -- List admin. 3. These particular folks were in Vermont, and probably came from western Massachusetts/Hartford, Connecticut as early settlers of CT. From postings I've seen, I believe many PA BEERS' families descend from the VT branches. 3. I was wondering if anyone on the list could help me identify the parents of either of the gentlemen above? They are two of my brick walls. Elisha had a daughter Mary FLOWERS who married Artimas BEERS. They had three children Caroline E., George W., and James Monroe. I descend through Caroline E. BEERS and David DEAN (son of Asa of Barnard). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just hooking up with cousins who want to compare notes. Regards, Jerry Jerry H. 3. Hi Everyone: Well school is out for a week and I am back to my first love - Genealogy. Last summer (or fall - it is winter now here) I was emailed by a Bethel, Vermont senior who wanted to do a class project related to a cemetery near her home. I was able to get some info out to her in between classes and lo and behold she has THE SITE UP AND RUNNING ALREADY. She has done an outstanding job and I give her an A+ on the work she has done. I would suggest that you take a look at all the information that she has obtained and posted including pictures. Hopefully she has a counter to document all the hits she will be getting. The URL is: http://www.synecology.com/gileadstones Sincerely, Charlotte M. Davis Fairbanks, Alaska P. S. I am currently working full time and getting my masters degree online. I answer requests every six weeks until mid 2004. I answer requests by date received and there may be additional delays depending on the number and types of requests. What I have are HISTORY books, with some genealogies of longterm or founding families included. They are by no means vital records. I would suggest that you go to your Family History Center and order the appropriate microfilms of the vital records of Royalton. If you're not aware of the Family History Centers, go to http://www.familysearch.org and click the Family History Library and follow the prompts to find one near you. 1. [VTWINDSO] Slafter/Slater Probate records
    2. Jackie Ginn
    3. Darrell, Please look for these names in the Probate Records: John Slafter who died 8 Oct 1819 Sylvester Slafter who died 9 May 1850 It could be that either of them went by Slater rather than Slafter. I notice you said there are six Slafters and one Slater. As I am positive that all these belong to my family, if you could possibly tell me their first names I will verify where they fit in, and probably get back to you with a request for their records, too. Thanks so much! Jackie
