    3. Hi Jill and all: According to the "The Early Settlers of Plymouth, Vermont" it offers the following: For the first few years, church services were held in the home of Nahtaniel Bowman Brown. The Congregation Church was formed in 1806, over which Rev. Prince Jenne presided for several years. Nathaniel Browne owned a log cabin a mile north of Lake Amherst, south of the Putnan Brown Farm. Unfortunately it doesn't say where that is. The next entry states: The first Union Meeting House was built in Plymouth Kingdom in 1815-16. The next church to be built was in Plymouth Notch, 1840-46. A Methodist Church was organized, and for years services and funerals were held in the Levi Green Hall at the Union. I know this isn't much but hope it helps a little. 3. Hi, All. Joab and Ebenezer Hoisington are my ancestors ( 4th g-grandfather and 4th g-granduncle). They were both still in the town of Windsor in 1767 (Joab moved to Woodstock in 1771). The church was built in Windsor and several Hoisingtons are buried in the churchyard. If you would like to see some of their tombstones, I have them posted in the Hoisington Virtual Cemetery <http://oslo.okcomputer.org/hoisington/hois_virt_cem.htm> BTW, Are there any other mentions of Hoisington/Horsington in the book? 2. Thanks for this opportunity! My dad, Ralph Nevling, is now 90 and is in assisted living due to memory loss, but he served in the Navy aboard the US Astoria (as a charter crewman) in WWII. He also illustrated the Ship's newspaper; I have many of the old copies plus all his letters to and from my mom (now deceased). I have ration books left over from when the war finally ended. When you read the letters, you realize what a time it was. So hard on families, so lonely for the men in service. He kept many secrets in his heart and still has them there! Many other relatives have served, but my dad deserves to be remembered along with so many others in Veteran's homes and such. And so many gave much more after their service! Linda, In Maryland

    3. Darrell, I think that's a wonderful idea, and I'd also like, as an archivist and preserver of Vermont history, to urge everyone to consider donating their family's letters to and from soldiers to a historical repository some day. Think of all the Civil War letters that are now preserved so that all may learn of what it was like to fight in that terrible war. What we don't have so much yet are letters of more recent soldiers who served in the wars of the 20th century. They are equally valuable to our national memory.
