    1. [VTWINDSO] Ludlow Vermont Deaths
    2. Jamie Fugate
    3. I know that others have the "Record of Deaths in the Town of Ludlow, Vermont from 1790 to 1901"... This book is a compilation of records (sorted by year) by Rufus S. Warner, published in 1902. Information is sparse in the beginning, but by the 1830s, it contains more records. After getting frustrated trying to find individuals, I put the information in a database, so I could sort by the last name of deceased or last name of who related to (if given). It includes persons who died elsewhere and were buried in Ludlow. If you are looking for a specific person or last name in Ludlow, I would be happy to check the database for them. Jamie

    1. [VTWINDSO] BLANCHARD, MORSE, CHESLEY, HERRICK & PRIEST, WINDSOR CTY
    2. I am currently researching the BLANCHARD, MORSE, CHESLEY, HERRICK & PRIEST lines. Most come from the Sharon/Norwich area of Vermont. My current brick walls are: Hiram King Blanchard (adopted?) b. June 6, 1842 in Royalton, VT, d. May 29, 1876, a check of Royalton births finds no Hiram Blanchard. Family rumour has it he was adopted and original surname was WATERMAN. Parents listed on marriage cert. as Joseph & Harriet Blanchard. Death cert. lists him as illegitimate. Pension case file yeilds nothing. Found a Joseph & Harriet Blanchard with a child named Hiram TUCKER in 1850 Sharon, VT census, same family in 1860 census lists Hiram BLANCHARD. Probate court has no record of adoption for Hiram BLANCHARD, WATERMAN, KING or TUCKER. Married Eliza A WHITE. Buried Beaver Meadow Cemetery, Norwich, VT. Emma J BLANCHARD (?) wife of Orison R. HUNTLEY. She is listed only as E.J. on daughters (Flora) b.c. Listed as Emma in census. Friend of family says her last name was BLANCHARD. A check of vital records comes up empty. Her father was born in Canada (English). Any help or leads appreciated---Thanks---Allie

I have Sarah Jane Nichols who was born in Plymouth, Windsor Co., VT in 1837. She married Aloten (Lot) Bennett in 1854 who was from Peru, VT. They both died in Mendon, Rutland, VT. I do not know who her parents are. The 1880 census states that her father was born in NY. I know there was also another group of Nichols in Plymouth, because a Samuel Nichols married Laura C. Coolidge, daughter of Oliver Coolidge and Mary Polly Wheelock, in 1834 in Plymouth. I show them having 4 children: Laura, Samuel A., Julia, and Lucian. Blessings, Jill Watters Rains

    1. [VTWINDSO] WEBSTER, Lydia birth, parents? m James MOWRY Guilf Methodist Episcopal
    2. Jan J.
    3. Hi researchers, I've been searching for elusive Lydia WEBSTER birth and marriage confirmation for about a year trying to find out where she was born and who her parents were. Lydia WEBSTER was born around 1781 to 1787 and died 16 February 1847 in Guilford, Windham, VT at age 60 or 66 (tombstone is hard to read, as to the second numeral) and is buried at Wilkins Hill District Cemetery. She married James MOWRY (MOWERY) 27 Sept. 1804 in Pomfret, Windham, CT, although I cannot find the record. James MOWRY was born 26 July 1783 in Providence Co., RI, and died 2 Aug. 1854 in Guilford, Windham, VT at age 71 and is buried at Wilkins Hill District Cemetery. In 1880 census Lydia WEBSTER is living with her oldest son, my ancestor, Lucius Potter MOWRY and wife, Desire KENYON. "The Descendants of Nathanial Mowry of Rhode Island" written by William A. Mowry; Sidney S. Rider, Publisher; Providence, RI, 1878, p. 178, has a listing for the marriage on 27 Sept 1804. I found this same date for Lydia WEBSTER and James MOWRY's marriage listed in a Church of the Latter Day Saints sealed record but cannot view it. It is not in the Barbour Collection. I am assuming that the Nathaniel Mowry book is the source of this marriage date. Another source for this marriage date and place is the book "Official History of Guilford, Vermont, 1678-1961" page 485 which I've seen. Also, I've contacted Addie with the Guilford Historical Society recently to see if she has access to the Methodist Episcopal Church records in Green River, VT (near Guilford, VT) where they were members. I've posted on Rootsweb, Ancestry.com, and GenForum. Also, I've had people personally check the marriage records in Pomfret, Conn, as well as Pomfret, Windsor Co., VT (just in case there was a mistake in the state name recorded). No one has been able to find a record. I have written to Guilford, VT; Leyden and Colrain, MA, Town Clerks for vital records but to no avail. I've checked out a Lydia WEBSTER in the right time period from Cabot, VT, in Abby Hemenway's "GAZATTEER". However, the Cabot Town Clerk office's old records were destroyed in a fire. I also found out from Pomfret, CT historical records, that this was a "marriage mill" town for quickie marriages from Rhode Island. I know that James Mowry was a native of Rhode Island. I was wondering if the town archives were a little lax on "marriage mill" records? There is a Stephen Webster family listed in Pomfret CT in the 1790 and 1800 censuses, with a houseful of children. At the time of the 1810 census (when Lydia would have been gone, because of 1804 marriage) the ENTIRE FAMILY HAD VANISHED. They have not shown up in any other New England state's censuses for 1810 -- Where did they go? And is there any evidence they were Lydia's family? Lydia WEBSTER is my 4th great grandmother. If anyone has any bits of research they've uncovered, or any questions for me to clarify who I'm looking for, please let me know. I really don't know where to look next! Anxiously awaiting your help, Jan Jordan in VT
