Ms. Depatie, Thank you for responding to my query. The key to my Dickinson research is Saxtons River. Your Charles S. Dickinson may be the father of my Charles S., or related in some other way...an uncle? My Charles S. (1809-1874) had several children born in Vermont. One son, James W. Dickinson, was born in Saxtons River in 1836. Charles S. probably left the area for Massachusetts in 1842. Do you have MS Excel (Windows98)? I can send you a matrix that contains details in regard to the Dickinson family. I would be interested in US census returns for Saxtons River for 1830-1860. I live in Michigan. I may have to make a trip to the Allen County (Indiana) Library to view them. The purpose of my reserach is backgound for a biography of Pauline Cushman. She was a nineteenth-cenetury actress and Civil War spy. In 1853 she married (in New Orleans) Charles C. Dickinson, another son of Charles S. I am hoping to establish her husband's ancestry and a connection to Saxtons River. There is a notation in her pension application that their son, Charles L. Dickinson, died in Saxtons River in 1864 while living with an aunt, Mrs. A.A. Newton. My Charles S. eventually ended up in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1850s. He and many of his descendents are buried in Cleveland. I wonder if there is a city directory for Saxton's River between 1850 and 1860? Do you know the descendents of your Charles S. Dickinson? Any help will be appreciiated. Regards, Bill Christen
