She was a daughter of Elijah Bruce, Rev War veteran of MA. ~ ELIJAH BRUCE, son of Artemas, married Abigail, daughter of Nathaniel Whitney of Grafton, Mass., in 1763. He was a soldier in the Revolution and in the Bennington battle, 1777. He moved to Marlboro in the early part of the present century. He died with small pox, May 16, 1833. His wife died July, 1847. Children, 11. His daughter CATHERINE married JOSHUA PHILLIPS, who was in the war of 1812 and shot in battle near Sackett's Harbor, NY. ~ Ref: Vermont Historical Magazine listing Rev War veterans, page 448. Bennington Genealogy History Library in Bennington, VT. Joshua Phillips of Marlboro, VT., was the Subject of previous postings listed below, in a reply to my Phillips family on Feb. 26 and 27th. So far, I have not found a pension record that she may have applied for in NY. or VT. Any data of Catherine (Bruce) Phillips, widow of Joshua Phillips, and their children, would be most appreciated.
