    1. {VTWINDHA} War of 1812; Joshua Phillips of Marlboro, VT./d.Sackett's Harbor, NY.
    2. Hello Jan, In researching Joshua and Catherine (Bruce) Phillips of Marlboro, VT., my goal is to learn their childrens names and if any of their sons removed to Jefferson County, NY., Before 1830. I am looking for a possible family connection to my great grandfather, Alonzo Phillips b. 1810, VT. He was first known to be in Ellisburg in 1830, when he married my great grandmother, Lavinia Fillmore in 1831. By coincidence, a Joshua and Oran Phillips is listed living on each side of Ethni Fillmore, father of Lavinia, in the 1830 census, Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY. I had posted a query re my search of his ancestry on the Windham County Message Board, on 25 Feb. 2005, Subj: Phillips family-Fillmore connections / VT.> Jefferson Co., NY., bef. 1830. Joshua and Oran Phillips that are in the 1830 census in Ellisburg, NY., are not in the census's before or after 1830. My searches have not found them as yet as soldiers who served in the Civil War. But, as you mentioned, there were dozens of Phillips's who served in the Civil War! Impossible to make a family connection, until I learn if Joshua and Catherine Phillips even had sons by the name of Joshua and/or Oran, that may have moved to Jefferson Co., NY. before 1830! A long shot, but I'm working on it..... Julia in OH
