However, I'm descended from the Willem Adriaense Bennet of Holland who settled in what's now Brooklyn(Kings Cty) NY in the 1620s'. Born c. 1605, he married Marytje Badye(Baddie) c. 1637 (her second marriage), and died betw. 3/89/1644&9/9/1644. Had four children: Adriense W, Willem W. Christian, and Maritje. >From that point the family got really busy; Adriense alone had 11 children (1660's-1680's); he and the others and their immediate offspring generated a lot of Bennets in the 17th & 18th cent. Lots of this available at Ancestry.com. Some spread out quite a bit during the following years, and wouldn't be surprised to find 'em in southern VT in the 1790's; the second 'T' was added somewhere in that time, so check both spellings.
