My ancestor, Nathan Howard and wife, Betsey, lived in Jamaica, Windham county, in the early 1800's. Their children Jane and Subinus were born in Jamaica in 1819 and 1824 respectively. Nathan was born 1771and Betsey was born 1787. I don't know who their parents were, but I would like to find out. The family moved to western NY sometime between 1830 and 1840. In a gazeteer from the late 1880's I found several Howards living in the Jamaica area so it looks like they have been in the area for a long time. Does anyone have any information that could help? Nathan did not have a death certificate, as he died in 1868. He was buried in NY.
