"Miner Thompson: This is on the north side of the stage road, on the upper slope of Wilkins Hill, on the east side. The buildings are on fifty acre lot No. 49 [100 acres on VT/Bernardston, MA border] which was sold by J. and A. Hunt to Zephaniah Shepardson Jr., in 1782. He deeded sundry tracts in 1832 to James Shepardson who deeded in 1834 to John Barney Shepardson, who lived here many years. He was succeeded by Edward B. Shepardson, who lived here until his death.
