    1. Grafton records available through your local FHC
    2. Folks, Sorry- the previous version of this email was a little confusing because of the interjection of URL addresses- here is the cleaned up version. Much information about Grafton is available through your local LDS Family History Center (FHC). You can order films of Grafton records through them (typically a $3.25 fee per film to cover costs) then look at the films using the film readers at the Center. I checked listings for Grafton at familysearch.org and the following general listings show: _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - Archives and libraries - Inventories, registers, catalogs_ _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - History_ _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - Land and property_ _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - Maps_ _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - Town records_ _Vermont, Windham, Grafton - Vital records_ The land and property records are mostly the deed records. The film covering the deeds for the time frame you are interested in is Index to deeds, 1781-1952 -- Deeds, v. 1-2, 1781-1794 FHL US/CAN Film 28286 The index which is at the front of this particular film will likely show all the deed transactions that your GGGgrandfather was involved in. The back part of the film shows the deeds for the time frame you are interested in (1787). If the index is set up like most indices in this part of Vermont, you will want to look at both the grantor index and the grantee index to pick up all the transactions that may involve your GGGgrandfather. Other people of the same surname may also occur in these records and may be relatives of your GGGgrandfather. You can determine where the closest FHC is to your home by going to familysearch.org and then click on the second item down in the right hand column. This will give you a page that you fill out to find the nearest FHC to your location. BTW, the Grafton town and vital records films alluded to above may also show whether your GGGgrandfather was involved as a town officer, may show his tax records, may give records of births, marriages, and deaths within his family, and much other interesting info. Good searching! Jim Otton Lakewood, Colorado FHC
