Recently I received an answer from the Newfane town clerk, to my request for a death certificate for Samuel Willis. Didn't get the certificate, but did get a couple of records for his daughter Roxanna, who married David B. Lamson. So I thought it might be helpful to some of you if I sent the data on. I'm Martha Parker, Wash state. I finally found Samuel Willis' home town, which was Bridgewater, Plymouth county, MA, where he was born 9-16-1781. This flies in the face of the information from the Stratton town clerk, who kindly sent me a copy of some pages from a Stratton families book. These are available for $25 from him. The Stratton Families book says Samuel Willis was born about 1782, "probably" to a Daniel Willis in Sudbury, MA. There is no Samuel born in 1782 or thereabouts in the Sudbury Vital Records. The book "History of Bridgewater, MA", by Nahum Mitchell, Boston, 1840, p. 349 has Nathan Willis, born 1759 to Samuel and Susanna Snell. "Nathan married Elizabeth Spear 1779, and had Samuel 1781, and moved away." Copies of the Town of Newfane, Windham County, VT Vital Records >From handwriting deciphered by Martha L.
