Mr. Arlen Huesman in his posting provides evidence to support his belief that James Albee married Hannah Parmenter and that Hannah was not James Hayward's second wife as is incorrectly recorded in the Mendon VR. Here I show that proof that Lois Parmenter is the mother of the children of James Hayward which are sometimes assigned to Hannah is in the Mendon MA Vital Records for births. The supposed marriage of James Hayward and Hannah Parmenter would be on 26 Feb 1754. However, the following is in the VR for Hayward births: Martha, d. James and Lois, Aug 4. 1754 Solomon, s. of James and Lois, Dec 6, 1756 Rebeckah, d. of James and Lois, July 23, 1758 Joseph, s. of James and Lois, Aug. 24, 1760 Uriel, s. of James and Lois, Mar. 1, 1763 Thus, whoever Hannah Parmenter married in 1754 it certainly was not James Hayward. Arleen Huesman makes a good case that it is James Albee. I hope this clarifies the issue. --- Robert Lincoln
