Per Lovell's "History of Rockingham Vermont 1907-1957" p. 91: "Fred [Winnewisser, brother of August] died in 1936 after running the newstand for many years and August was the first in the furniture business , later opening The Suprise Store on Westminster St, a variety shop in which he was engaged in 1910. He moved ot Brooklyn in 1912 and later to Lockwood, N.Y. where he left the business world for farming" p.98: "Fletcher's newstand is operated by John T. fletcher, Jr. It was opened by Mr. Fletcher, Sr., who came here from Somerville, Mass. and bought the business of F.C. Winnewisser, taking possesion April 1, 1929." p. 199: discussion of the town band of which Fred Winnewisser was a member. p. 200: "It was later that Felix [Exner] of the Class of 1905, B.F.H.S [Bellows Falls High School] and Marjorie Winnewisser instigated teh high school orchestra which rates so highly today"
