Dear Jan, So sorry to have kept you waiting for my answer. All summer I haven't worked much on genealogy. I did get a copy of Seth Russell's pension application dated 10-12-1871, claim No. 7373, but not the certificate No. 6661. However, the application did not give me his parents. It did tell me he married Lavina Parker Jan. 3, 1807 in Middletown, Rutland County, VT. This county ID assumes Middletown became Middletown Springs. He was born about Oct. 12, 1791, and died after Oct. 12, 1871, supposedly in Chester, Warren County, NY. Since he enlisted from Ira, Rutland, VT, he may have been born there. I've been hoping he was the brother of Lucy Russell, but have no proof of this. It's Lucy I'm really interested in. She would be my great-great-great grandmother. I didn't know how to proceed to get Seth's parents and rest of his family. I did check out the LDS Film on the vital records of Ira, but didn't find anything there. This suspicion came from "History of Ira, VT" by S. L. Peck, 1926, who said a man named Russell lived across the river near or in Ira. Thanks for your interest. Martha Parker
